DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: does "ballista-tower" works?
« on: November 25, 2007, 01:17:00 pm »
I've managed to hit a goblin that was on a ramp that was 1 z level lower than the catapult.  Granted the ramp was at like the max range of the catapult.  The stones were skipping on the ground leaving sand  marks.

DF Gameplay Questions / Armorsmith fey mood.
« on: November 02, 2007, 07:14:00 pm »
My armorsmith just got a feymood and won't go to any workshops.  The only skills he has is armorsmith and dabbling grower from moving food/harvesting. After he got the mood, I went and built a regular forge so he might be able to work his magic.  He didn't move.  I pretty much have every workshop up.

Next I built smelter and made steel anvil.

In the old version, if you hit the magma, they would want a magma forge.  I haven't found any magma.  The closest thing I've found so far is red sand and Obsidian.  I'm on the tallest peak of a volcano map with some woods connecting to it.  Does the game think I've found magma already?

I'm guessing its either that or another bug where I didn't have a forge set up before hand.

DF Bug Reports / Re: Armor brought by the caravan does not exist?
« on: November 02, 2007, 08:34:00 pm »
The merchant eventually made it out of the statue garden.  Moving very slowly.  Probably admiring something.  Once he made it out of the level he was on, he walked normally.  Proceded to leave the fort and get to the edge of the map.  On the way to the edge of the map, he went mad.  THe mad merchant managed to get to the edge of the map anyways, but decided he didn't want all his clothes on and chucked some stuff.  He then went back into my fortress, removed more clothing, then left the map.  He told me he was angry.

The trade depot still has the shield I got from the dwarves on the first year.  There are armor bins and a couple of dwarves with shield carrying enabled.

Also this file has the Head Merchant stuck in the fortress bug.  The dwarf merchants just left.  My Broker was on break and went to sleep for most of the time they were there.  I turned off all my jobs for the Dwarf in charge of the fort so that he could do the meeting.  This dwarf proceded to haul a bunch of stuff to the depot and cage animals while the Merchant followed him around.  THis probably took half 1/3 of a season.  Finally the Meeting took place in the statue garden where said merchant still is.

DF Bug Reports / merchants can't find way out.
« on: November 08, 2007, 08:38:00 pm »
Now I got another merchant bug.  Two of the dwarf caravan plus pack animals can't find their way out of the fortress.  They went down a level and came back up on the other side of the depot.  The display that shows if a caravan can get to your depot says they can't get out.

Is there a way to make the insides of your fort caravan friendly.

DF Bug Reports / Re: Multiple Ramps Result In Pathing Failure

I've had this happen. Turn them into military and station them up a few levels.

DF Bug Reports / Re: Former miners don't drop their picks.

Go into the miners inventory and forbid the item.  He'll eventually drop it once his task is complete.  Then claim the item and a new miner can pick it up.

DF Bug Reports / Re: Miners dig down but can't find path out

Finally just recruited them into the military and stationed them up a few levels.  They walked right up the ramps.  yay!

I had the same pathfinding spam that the previous poster talked about before my miners got stuck.

DF Bug Reports / Miners dig down but can't find path out
« on: November 02, 2007, 03:46:00 pm »
I've Dug down about 10 levels now and my miners can't seem to walk up the ramps at the bottom now.  They are slowly starving and whatnot.  Is there some pathing error that I don't know about.  I've built even more ramps down there for them to get out and that doesn't help.  Even built staircases.

I have no doors or anything blocking them in.

DF General Discussion / Re: Marksdwarves: Smarter?
« on: November 03, 2007, 05:09:00 pm »
Maybe its just me but it seems like they don't have as much range as they had in the old version.  My hunter is only shooting things that are like 5 spaces away or less.

They use to machine gun things, wasting ammo left and right.

DF General Discussion / Re: Mystery Of The Dead Miners
« on: November 04, 2007, 12:28:00 pm »
there's actually a bug that prevents certain dwarves from using ramps.  The way I fixed it was by drafting the trapped dwarves into the military then stationing them up a few levels above the ramps.  They walk right up them.

In the old version, didn't you have to break one of their wings to be able to trap them.  Did your weapon traps damage the wings?

I think you are right. I use windows 2000 and my maps never come out the same as the people's with the good seeds.
