Curses / Re: Alright, Im really full of ideas.
« on: June 09, 2013, 05:58:38 pm »
Alright, I have a few more now that Ive been away.

1. In places it shows how your liberals are going around, either on foot or in a wheelchair. I think it would be cool if there were more "vehicles" you can use on location. Like roller skates, bikes and thinks, and if you had one it'd give you another roll for dodging attacks when you run away from a group based on agility, and boosts in the roll like cars give.

I'm not sure if I like this idea, but I could see Public versus Private transportation being a cool issue.
C+ = Cars are limited to a maximum of 10mpg by law. Public transportation is an oxymoron. Bikes/Skateboards are outlawed. (At this level ,Traffic is so bad, driving checks are penalized in cities for both persuers and persuees, with crashes being far more likely)

C = Cars have no emission standards. Bikes/Skateboards are extremely unpopular. Publc transport exists only in major cities and is almost universally privatized (and very expensive).

N = Vehicles have nominal emission standards. Public transportation is somewhat subsidized. Some people ride their bikes to work, but its mostly couriers.

L = Car and road taxes are common in major cities. Public transport is heavily subsidized, as is buying bikes/skateboards. Bike sharing programs in major cities.  (At this level, escaping city locations by car spawns additional chasing units due to decreased response times and reduced traffic, but crashes are less likely for all involved)

L+ = By law, public transportation goes nearly everywhere and it is free. Private vehicles are banned downtown, require monthly emission checks and and are so heavily taxed no one owns one.  (At this level, police/government responses are faster, and escaping spawns twice as many persuers. Also, you can go to "outside the city" locations without a car)

3. When you go to the police station, there could be an evidence locker, which you can break into similar to the safes on the outskirts. Except when you break in, it does something different, one of two things. Either take a few random charges off a random liberal, or remove some heat off the safe house the liberals came from. However, this would get the liberal a charge of "Tampering with evidence."

I really like this idea, but I'd say if you break in you can either
A - Screw with the evidence, which decreases public opinion on the police and law and order in general. This should give you significant bonuses to courtroom defenses.

B - Steal stuff, which raises heat a TON. Randomly acquire money, drugs (count as valuable good you can pawn), stolen property (random, but usually valuables) or weapons (random, could be anything).

4. When in court there is a chance of your liberal having an outburst on the judge and the court, gaining the liberal an automatic guilty verdict, but an extra month in the court house, for simplicity, while being held for contempt.

Maybe not an outburst, but I like the idea this as a possible critical fail for a  "Defend Yourself" if you don't have enough law. It should probably give some Juice as well, since this is the sort of thing that tends to get picked up by news.

I like the idea of split CCS factions that get more active as the country goes increasingly liberal.

Church groups, mega corporations, military industrial complex members, you've got some neat options here that could be implemented.

If you do this though, it should be included with some methods of speeding the late game up a bit if the player steamrolls everything, and some targeted actions that can reduce the influence of those groups.

I always, always, ALWAYS rename my liberals so that their first name they get is usually more of a squad designation (for instance Writer) , and the second has a simple designator of number (alpha/beta/cappa/delta) and if the character has a special skill I include that too. So I'll have CovertOpsAlhpa(Lockpick4).

They also organize by safehouse.

When my numbers get big, I'll make sure active squads get an A at the start of their tarting with A, and stuff that never has to move (writers, artists) get a Z.

Generally my squads work like this.

AlphaHacking Squad goes between the two downtown appartments, since they draw heat like mad as they run credit card scams.

BetaAction Squad (Legbreakers and the assholes wtih guns who take out the CSS..and then getting killed in a blaze of glory)

BetaHuman Resources Squad (which has my leader who kidnaps sleepers and brainwashes them, running between various other safe houses)

OmegaWriters and WriterGuards (who sit in a fortified safehouse and write the guardian once the laws become reasonable.. and I NEVER put out treasonous material from this location)

ZetaDoomed/Prostitute/Graffiti Squads (who sit in the homeless shelter. Doomed refers to known kidnapped and brainwashed conservaties, and the useless idiots I pick up who run graffiti and prostitution stings, largely to train my lawyer). These guys are pretty doomed and usually they all end up in prison a lot unless I've gotten their Street Sense way up.

For my sleepers, I usually use the location they are at.

The exception being my six sleeper judges and my ace attorney, Phoenix Left, who of course NEVER do anything but act as sleepers, as they are too valuable to risk.

How about make the default "On suspicion of harboring dangerous fugitives!"

or

"We have a warrant!"

Chances are the police are there looking for someone else's actions, right?

1. I think it would be a cool idea if every once in a while there was a "Health" roll to see if someone gets sick or an "Agility" check to see if someone gets hurt while doing stuff. Meaning at random times a prompt that says something like-

Please, sweet merciful science, no. The last thing the game needs is people randomly dying for no reason. There are already plenty of totally legitimate ways you can die in this game.

2. I always though fighting in LCS was a little cut and dry, so the idea of guns being able to jam came into my mind, a few updates ago actually, I just never brought it up. I think that it would be cool if swords could get dull after a while, and they would need to go have the blade sharpened.

A well maintained gun shouldn't jam very often, and swords (at least longswords/euroepan blades) aren't sharp at all. If a weapon relies on sharpness to penetrate the target, armor will stop it cold. Since this update is neither realistic nor cool, I can't recommend it.

3. Something I never liked is that bodies just stay in your safehouses forever, I think that after a while that bodies should decompose, making it so when cops raid a safehouse and find the bodies, they can't tell who, so the liberal above them doesn't lose juice. But so its not so OP they should only decompose very slowly.

With dental records/dna, that would take a long time. Also, decomposing corpses an an apartment would make it damn near uninhabitable, and draw heat like CRAZY unless you were fridging it. Though a wood chipper/tub full of acid to make disposal easier would be very cool.

4. I always found that healing liberals in the safehouse with no special room was a little unrealistic. If you removed a bullet from someone's body in just any old room, theres a very big chance that the wound would get infected, so I though of an option to buy a special room under the safehouse menu, but since safehouse upgrades can seem expensive at the beginning, where fighters are most likely to get hurt while trying skills, I think it should only make healing faster in that safehouse.

I always figured that washing your hands/using clean instruments/keeping the first aid room clean came under the first aid skill. But a fully stocked first aid room or AED kit might be nice.

5. I know Im not the first person to suggest this and I probably won't be the last, but I like the idea of gambling in LCS. I had two ideas for this though, two different ways to do it. One way being an active via the action menu, the other being a special location on the edge of town. I also think there should be a skill for it, as well as an option in the begining of the game to help get a skill boost at the start of the game.

A Casino location has some VERY interesting possibilties. Mafioso. The secret backroom high stakes card game where you run into celebrities and ceo's. Robbing the Casino ala Oceans 11 (make it nearly impossible, but provide a HUGE payoff). Or just stealing from the patrons.

6. One thing Ive been thinking, but seemed WAY to over-powered, are ways for you to train your special skills like strength, agility, etc. I can't remember all the special skills at the moment, so I can't really give ideas on what would make them improve, but Ill try to remember to get back to this.

This would be overpowered. Actually, the request I'd make is to combine body/strength into a single stat, but I don't think this is likely to happen.

7. I think it would be a cool idea if female liberals could get pregnant during prostitution, and based on juice they weould either stay or leave the LCS. And if abortion laws are Liberal enough, they could get an abortion as well, but they have to have a certain amount of heart to actually go through with an abortion for the LCS. But, if they don't get an abortion, after 9 months where the liberal could do pretty much nothing but sit around, you would gain a 0 y/o liberal with no skills, and no actions until they get old enough to do stuff.

And if you have a first aid of 11, you can use the coat hanger option even at max conservative laws! I'm sorry. THIS is the last thing this game needs. Sweet fuckity Jesus, please no.

Next question..

I'm trying to set up a non-violent run again. This time I have 81 juiced writers (using liberal guardian) and a team of 14 or so hackers and credit scammers.

So my questions are...

1) I had gotten the idea that over time, heat goes down on characters naturally. Is this true, and if so, can it be hastened with any activities (say, community service?)

2) Is writing/graffiti/hacking an effective way of changing hearts and minds? Does this actually work, or will there be certain issues that writing about simply won't touch? How do murals/graffiti/demonstrations effect public opinion?

Curses / Re: How to earn money?
« on: January 13, 2013, 07:26:41 pm »
A really, really simple way of make quick bank is to have a squad of computer hackers run credit card scams. You gain heat like crazy, but you never get caught in the act, and if you have a sleeper police agent you'll always get warning of a raid. With a good computer skill, a squad of hackers can pull in a LOT of money, and you can forget about em until you hear about a raid.

Since hacking can raise you to 200 juice, this is also a good target for the first six people you recruit if you want to have a decent sized conspiracy. They can recruit 30 people in turn with minimal risk, and you can use those guys for writing/graffiti fall guys/hired goons/specialists.

The other slower but less deadly way is to "enlighten" corporate managers or bank managers, and then have them embezzle funds.

Ok. I made a new game. I have a psyche (psy 17) specialist now, but I soften em up with 12 angry firemen hackers with bondage gear who don't even convert. They just drug the guy and beat him with specialty props while blaring Gangnam style in his ears.

Then when the target is half dead, the firemen leave and my leader Psy comes out and converts them with his epic dance moves.

It's pretty hard to resist!

Thanks for the explanation. I didn't realize goon swarms were so effective.

So I was running a nonviolent cha/specialist, using hacking to raise my juice.

Somehow, my entire group ended up with kidnapping charges. Any ideas how this could have occured?

Also, I was going to ask about interolgations. I understand you need good psychology and adequate secondary social skills. The ancient wiki also claims heart is really vital, but I haven't found that to be true. Any tips on setting up an easy mode for turning people that isn't 15 versions out of date?
