I'm one week late I guess... Well, proper update coming tomorrow. As for now, my first take on lore.

...If any "king" ever comes up in a conversation in this part of the world, be sure they are talking about the King. The previous ruler of this land (and many others), queen Ber's father, has been universally known as The Emperor. Elves are guided by druids and clan counsils, goblins are ruled by warchiefs, the rebel barons had a lord-protector elected for such an occasion, and humans... No human lord have yet archieved prominence to be mentioned here.

the King, also knows as the Dead King, has ruled the North with iron fist for several years. Their origin is unknown, and sholars  still debate on the true nature of this tyrant. Using his undead puppets and captured slaves (mostly dwarves), he amassed huge wealth, rose an army of ancients and marched South, rasing town after town.

The King is known to be surrounded by a court of sorts, consisting of cultists, lesser necromancers, vampires and other creatures of the night. Old-world nobles are said to be serving him too, after being raised from their graves and tombs. Moreover, all kinds of rogues from the Empire are flocking to the King's capital.

On the contrary, Empress of the Southlands, Ruler of Tradebrim, Most Illustrious Queen Ber is a benevolent, enlightened monarch, focused on protecting life and liberty of all her subjects. She is 18 years old, inheriting the throne from her father at the age of 6. While the first five years of her rule were marked by civil war and unrest, order has finally been restored. It's only a matter of time that the lost lands are reclaimed!

Oh, I was just waiting for the second update before saying anything.  I suspect many others were as well.

It's coming monday I guess.

3
Before I post another update, here's an important question.

It has become increasingly difficult for me to keep up with all the things happening in the fortress, while number of replies seems to be falling. I'd like to thank you guys for active participation and input, but the output does not quite correspond with the amount of effort I put in it, especially since uni has been putting quite a strain on me.

I've been thinking about joining forces with some other local artist to work on a common project, though I admit I lack skills required for the task. As for now, I just want to make sure whether the resourses for further growth of this comic are exhausted or not.

Soo, does that mean two updates tomorrow or that the second one is coming a lot sooner than it usually would?

Can't wait!

I'm sorry, Kurtzat Thalim the Farmer will only show up next time. Luckly, the second update's coming sooner indeed!  :P

"Good evenin', Goden. May I have ye attention for a moment?"

"What is it, chief?"

"So, what can y'tell me about the King?"

"The King? Uhh, frankly speakin', Ah have not th'slightest idea. Guess he's some kinda ancient tyrant or something'".

"Exactly, Goden. We fight the enemy we know nothing about. That's why we need scholars, to study it and gather whatever knowledge we can".

"Huh. Great idea, chief. I take it we should discuss it wit' the citizens".

"Ha, think you can take on me?! So that you know, I'm three-time champion of the Stunty League!"

"Hello there, lads. Havin' fun, eh? What's your name again, new guy?"

"It's Sareve, sir."

"So you're a scribe, Sareve? Have you written any books on your own?"

"Uh, just my diary, sir. I've been thinking about it, but I only have some paper and a few quills... Anything I should write about?"

Fortuthri retches!

"CAW! You fool! Its body can handle a few fermented fruits at best! And you gave it a chug of liquor!"

"I'm sorry, right? I didn't know it was like that!"

"BAGAWK! Just shut up and bring me a bucket of water! No, two buckets! And hurry!"

"Mhm, clear signs of a struggle... Nothing new so far."

"I tell you what, there is somethin' fishy bout this whole ordeal..."

"Y'see, it's different from dealing with kobolds or, say, beastmen. I can't arrest a dwarf just because their teeth are a bit large or because their birth date is questionable. I need real hard evidence, not some baseless speculation".

"Here. What does it smell like?"

"Excuse me? I'm a wolf man, not a guard dog! Y'think I have a perfect sense of smell or somethin'?"

"Aw shucks, why not. Just don't tell anyone yet".

"Mhm. Elf male. What's so special about it?"

"So you'll be able to recognise it anywhere? I think Vlakoth haven't had bath today, neither he cleaned his weapon properly. Sometimes it's good to be low on soap..."

"That's the weirdest idea... Hm, it actually makes sense. Bout time we visited them... Let's move, no time to waste here".

Due to some very poor planning, I've been working on two updates at once. These long periods of wait are becoming a bad habit.

Anyone. update coming tomorrow!

Ice wolves are dangerous creatures indeed. They are huge, powerful and, what's more important, they come in packs. These beasts are said to be incredibly fierce, violent and absolutely untameable, even by those at peace with nature. They do have some weaknesses though.

First, they are not bearproof.

"HUFF- Gah, you got LUCKY, bearrr boy... UFF- Next time, I'm showing you how a RRREAL HUNTER works-"

"By Armok, what's that!?"

"...And then I subdued the otherrr wolf and rrrescued the peasants from the rrravine. Busy day, rright".

"Oh my! I hope you don't have to fight beasts like those too often?"

"Not anymorre, I guess. We're doing a lot to keep it safe herre".

"Oh dear."

"It is very unfortunate that we have to leave this soon. Our good friend's life is at stake, and we ought to hurry back to Amaneseniti to give him a proper treatment. I have ordered to unload the goods you purchased earlier".

"T's indeed shameful such a disaster occured durin' your stay. I hope our relations will not be overshadow'd by dis... Freak accident. We're truly sorry tae have caused you trouble. May I offer you to stay here for a bit more? Our very competent medic could take a look at your friend at our hospital".

"Oh, I thank you for your kind offer, but uhh... We dare not to... Uhm... Sadly, we have to go."

Great. Those ice wolves really strained our diplomacy efforts. I wonder, why did they attack the elf first? It's almost if they were guided by the King himself... Hm.

Meanwhile...

"Phew, all this digging right next to a volcano makes me thirsty. Good thing I have my trusty flask right here!"

"Mhm?"

"..."

"Bzzx".

"What the..."

You have discovered an expansive cavern deep underground.

And finally, meet Fortuthri the Worker Ant Woman! Ant men are actually cobold-sized, but I made her a bit taller than that. Slowly going back to regular updates.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I'm always looking forward to Cathars comics because they're just plain awesome! Heh, I'm waiting for those more than for my own updates even  :P

Updoot tomorrow, featuring a new character! Also, updated the OP. Please remind me if I have forgotten about any requests.

"I am Jack of Clann Seyecé. I speak to you on behalf of these dwarves".

"Jack! Good to see you here!... Have learned something of note from the shorties yet?"

"Some crafts, yes. Anyway, the locals... I feel like I should warn you, they do not take kindly to slavers here".

"Slaves? Ah, you're so naive Jack! These dwarves, they've been torturing animal kin for ages, destroying their homes, conscripting their children... And now that the Empire is dead, it is up to us to help these poor folks!"

"Helping is one thing, but... Turning it into a lucrative business?"

"Hey, how else are we expected to survive up here? Everyone's gotta work, the clann ruled so".

"Well... Maybe Clann Vinenathele could rethink their ways... Say, if they were engaged in highly profitable trade with the dwarves? Here, a fine example of what we can offer currently..."

"...By Romimi, it's perfect!"

"Indeed, it is. So, what do you have to say about this humble offering?"

"Of course! I mean, I have to discuss it with the elders first... You have more of those, right?"

"...A unicorn, this far up north. Mhm."

"It is quite peculiar indeed. I thought at first my eyes failed me, but the wonderful beast turned out to be very, very real."

"There, down the ravine".

Hm. I don't see any-"

*CLINK*

"...You think I'm this stupid? I could smell a night creature from a mile away!... You know, I'm gonna do these nice dwarves a favor. Prepare to die!"

"Thiz bloody elv... Who he thinkz he iz? I eat fish, you eat fish, everyone eatz fish... But he getz special treatment! Berry piez, my arze".

"Well, it's not like it strains our production too much. I'd rather make sure everyone is content with their meals than-"

"AWOOO!"

"What the..."

"Ice wolves! By Armok, they cornered one of the new guys!"

Aaand we're finally back. Also, I need to upade the OP and the requests list.

Expect update tomorrow.

10
Sure, go ahead. I'm having an exam on 20th, so I'm posting an update shortly after that.

11
I'm currently working on the update. Hope it's not dead due to my neglect yet.

Things have taken a rough turn lately. I had my PC repaired, but I don't think I can deliver on time due to stuff happening right now. Also due to exams, I hardly have any time to spare.

("Good evening, gentlemen! Please, take a seat. Today I would like to discuss with you a matter of importance, namely, the surroundings of this very fortress and our place in the Empire. Recent events have shown that some additional education on this issue is required".)

This one is a bit short since it's obviously experimental. If you like it, I'll try to present the proper update using the same technique.

Just a heads up: my PC ded, so the updoot might take a while. Don't worry though, I'm not calling it quits.

Change of style might be a thing tho... At least for a time
