Dwarves:

could write digests of books they've read.
could write books w/annotations
could contrasts and comparisons btw books

If I've designated dwarves to be scribes,scholars,performers in other forts they'll emigrate to my new fort as that profession.
Is there a way to either designate a dwarf as a monster slayer or have them emigrate as one?

I've been playing with Mayday graphics since '08 and now all other packs just seem wrong.
Out of curiosity...
why did the some sprites change for the Mayday pack--like beds and metal ores?

I also notice having a bunch of ore laying around hurts fps. Also products that aren't in stockpiles.

all my forts have the same design:

wagon path down
defensible position (ballistas/archers/cages/gate)
hang out space (noble rooms and offices/temples/libraries/inn/trade depot/hospital/well) and barracks and live combat training
non magma based reactants and products and irrigated farms and pastures
non magma furnaces/workshops
magma furnaces/workshops reactants and products Stockpiles
magma based Furnaces/workshops
Magma

i don't worry about doors or walls except when i want the boost to architecture wealth. any bad thoughts arising from lack of privacy or noise is mitigated by awesome food/drink to consume or sweet hang out places.
i hallow out a large enough room to house what ever i'm putting in there with up/down stairwells along the outside.
