Yeah now that sieges are composed of historical figures some civ's can only send one or two decent ones, the rest will be rubbish, why not just spend some time letting the civ grow back up and start a war with the elves?

If they both fall over it's whoever has charged normally that stands up first. They do it in normal combat too sometimes if both of the soldiers are the same height (dwarf V dwarf, human V human).

Dwarfs are not as violent as they once were. For whatever reason they care when their children are butchered in front of them!

My king mandated the production of copper short swords, since my fort has no steel but loads of copper I decided to ignore it and arm my sword dwarfs. Unfortunately I had a squad of adept spear dwarfs not on duty, they were all decent smiths so they produced the swords and were then chained in the jail. My fortress went under siege so I decided to free them since they are my only decent soldiers.

I had forgotten that the captain of the guard would beat them. Not only did he beat them but he was a proficient striker and killed two of them by jamming their ribs through their hearts and hospitalised the other three! Is there any way to stop any heavy handed beatings so I don't lose any more dwarfs?

I normally give humans iron and steel, since copper is useless against anything iron or above.

I remember in the original dwarven child care thread someone suggested melting the "test subjects" fat off with magma mist. I don't know if it's practical but if it could work that would be great, magma immune dwarves. The day has come.

Some of my forts get some thief's while others don't. I've never got any snatchers but they still kidnap children from other civs on legends.

In my fort I have next to no important cavern creatures. They are all just crundels or troglodytes with one giant mole every now and then.

Lock them in separate rooms and check the combat logs. Were creatures are annoying but if you have any infected dwarfs you could make them into super dwarfs as they regrow lost limbs after they turn.

As soon as a dwarf starts a part I lock them into the room. I end up with three dwarfs trapped in the sculpture garden for a week but it stops the others getting distracted.

Salt is really brittle so once you get your military to decide it wants to kill the hulk of salt trying to murder your fortress it should be easy. Check if it has webs or syndromes, if so that would be fun!
