DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Odd sculpture
« on: December 29, 2014, 04:36:14 pm »
I when bored, decided to atom smash a dwarf (Olin ParchedFlag) with a drawbridge. As we could expect a dwarf ended up smashed. Several poor merchants later I decided to set up a sculpture garden. One of the sculptures read about poor Olin ParchedFlag underneath a bridge, cringing in the early winter of 48. So it seems our dwarfs remember our experiments.

I had my civies beat a whole ambush to death. It might have something to do with the numbers (a lot of dwarfs one kobold etc) or you might have to tone down the Russian horse steroids in the water supply.

I think as long as you designate the task again (if you were making beds then set one to be made in a carpenters workshop etc) if it was hauling another dwarf would just go and do it instead. Whatever they were doing it's probably resolved by now.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: How viable is a men-at-arms setup?

I've tried this before. Unless your soldiers are armored and at the least competent in a weapon skill they will get butchered in larger fights or against archers and you will get a lot of disabled dwarfs who are missing a limb (plus there could easily be tantrum spirals after someone sees their friends killed in front of them). If you do go through with it you could lose a lot of manpower that would be better at building walls and fortifications. Find the best ones, set them to train  and give them good armor and weapons and they will be just as good.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Alligators- The greatest threat since carp

I have three archers in the hospital and two dead. My plan for now is to just build a massive wall to keep them from getting inside.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Alligators- The greatest threat since carp

Have alligators always been so dangerous? I've been doing an above ground fortress in a marsh area and have had some annoying animals get to close but I retired then un-retired my fortress to arm my people with knifes but a group of alligators got too close to my wood cutters, while most of the alligators got on the land and were mobbed by my workers and were stabbed to death, one stayed underwater and ripped apart three humans (Im playing as humans for the now) before I even noticed! I called in my militia who waited for it to surface then hacked it up.

I normally just live underground as dwarfs so I don't see much animals but have alligators always been so dangerous?

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Odd noble behavior

I know about insurrections it's just the massive scale of dwarf conflict that's going on. I would of thought the nobles would try to retreat at some point but even as they are bleeding out and have punctured organs they just keep fighting. I guess it is just a bug involving large site takeovers.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Odd noble behavior

I created a dwarf adventurer and immediately headed to the trade depot to take the site as my own. On the way I noticed loads of barons/baroness and counts (but no countesses). I went to the surface, claimed the site and to teach the nobles who's boss I knocked one out and smashed his right arm into gore. Understandably everyone tried to kill me so I called for a ceasefire. Every dwarven "peasant" accepted and became my allies instantly but all the nobles started no quarter fighting against all the lower classes resulting in awesome combat.
I am happy to say that it seems that the nobles are being overthrown!

UPDATE- I checked downstairs where I found all the nobles and from what I see they are in combat to. The human blacksmith seems fine but the children in the room have been stabbed by the adults and it seems almost every noble dwarf is in combat even the chief medical dwarf.

lifemancers are great when working in hospitals. If your not using full heal then check your mages in case you have one but be careful. If he starts to rot I found sometimes if you have a low level lifemancer especially your dwarf is brought back partly rotted its probably a bug but just watch out.
