Journal of Rakust Icecoon
28th Limestone 227

Finally, we arrived! After weeks of travel through the wilderness full of savage beasts we are here.
My worst worries are over now and I only hope, that we will find a new and safe home.
My son makes me proud, he endured our hard journey without complaints.
Oh yes... they call this place Ozkakurrith, Carryscar

So, Anvil went funny in the head and is working on something. Showmood reveals it to be a weapon of some kind, likely to be a war axe based on her preferences.
Wow, the only legendary melee weapon I've ever got in my games was a badger bone battleaxe  :D

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Face Palm moments you had
« on: December 09, 2013, 02:51:38 am »
I got a nice facepalm moment yesterday. I've built a wall around my fortress entrance with a drawbridge, but I forgot to set it to raise, instead when a dwarf pulled the lever the bridge just retracted. I found this out when a goblin siege started, but I stayed calm, because I digged a two tile wide moat full of water around the wall, so I thought I was safe and went to check on my workshops. When I scrolled back to the wall area, the goblins were happily murdering my dwarves .. only then I noticed that they were riding cave crocodiles, which ferried them through the water.

Facepalm..
Reclaim..
Edit:
Note:
Change the water to MAGMA!

None, unfortunately. Anyone want to volunteer to see what that thing's dust does/know a way I can check?

If it was a hornbill it could fly over our walls anyway, but you could still build some to defend the fort from non-flying creatures.
My first FB-s are usually composed of vomit, water or snow, so we had a good amount of luck with this one.

In my current fortress I have a statue of Besmar Handlechanced the Sweltering Fat of Picks.   :D

There's some kind of odd cries out in the caverns. Tiger says it sounds like a Hornbill...

Now is the moment of truth. Do we have any kind of fortifications, walls or drawbridges?

I would like to be dwarfed too, maybe you forgot. Rakust Icecoon, brewer.  :)
It looks like a very good story so far.  ;)

I would like to join this fortress too. The name is Rakust Icecoon, brewer - mad alchemist.  :D Does not matter what gender.
I voted for standard fortress, but I will be happy with any outcome.

2023: Your advanced version of menacing spikes will keep the uninvited forgotten friends at bay now.

That bug when dwarves steal en masse from elven caravans happened to me too. I have just recently built a hospital and then an elven caravan appeared, all the dwarves runned to that caravan and took all clothes and threads that caravan had.

One of my dwarven babies got involved in a combat in my fortress after one of my dwarves got berserk because I was unable to give him the required materials for his grand legendary artefact project. He attacked the baby, so I called in the military, because I feared he would kill him. Well it ended unexpectedly. I do not have a screenshot, so it happened like this:

Urist McBerserk punches the Dwarven baby in his left arm, bruising the muscle.
Dwarven baby kicks Urist McBerserk in his head, bruising the muscle, jamming the skull through the brain and tearing the brain.

Urist McBerserk has been struck down!?
Well, what the...

I hope the baby will pull through, it received a serious beating before that Chuck Norris like kick.  :D

I have checked the kills of the dwarfs in my military. It was a human after all. Alright thanks for your help.

Edit:
The area around the fortress is classified as wilderness, so I think it's safe to let it outside.

DF Gameplay Questions / Burying werebeasts?
« on: October 21, 2013, 02:51:51 pm »
Hi, I'm new to df. I have A question. A were-gila came to raid the vicinity of my fortress, I defeated it easily( cause the beast was more interrested in tearing apart a badger instead of my soldiers   :D). So.. do the rules about ghosts apply to were-beasts too?(or their original form). Should I bury the corpse or should I leave it rot on the field?  If yes, how do I bury them? My dwarves are not interrested in picking up the corpse at this time.
