I searched, but found few answers to my questions, and sorry if I missed something obvious.

After 6 years without a single bed ridden dwarf, I get a broken spine. How, I have no idea whatsoever

What can I do with him? If I let him rest, will eh EVER heal? From what I understand, no.

So is there a way to kill him? I would prefer to drop him into a pit, since it is very quick. Can I do this? How can I put him somewhere? Can I make him move? Is there anyway to get rid of hm besides a "heal" tool or something?

I don't think so. I have a waterfall outside my fort, and for years it has not visibly removed stone from where the waterfall rushes past the cliff face.

This happened to em as well. The only way i fixed it was by replacing region1 with an older, autosave game.

Alright, thanks. I tried this before, and I must have done something wrong because after about two years of work, a 25 x 25 pool wouldn't spawn turtles. I see what I did wrong now, thanks.

How big of an area would I need to have, filled with water and separated from a river by a floodgate, to have turtles spawn? I have fished the rivers dry and want a way to get fish, within the safety of my fortress.

Will a floodgate cause the turtles to not spawn?


Mainly I want to know if a floodgate would stop turtles from spawning in an indoor lake.

It must just be horrible luck.

Two things: What was your wealth? As long as you think it sounds reasonable 9above 10,000 or something) you should get more than 2 immigrants, at least SOME every year.

If you really want immigrants, you can add    [ACTIVE_SEASON:SPRING]
   [ACTIVE_SEASON:SUMMER]
   [ACTIVE_SEASON:WINTER]

to the dwarfs in entity_default.

I think there was another way to encourage immigrants, but I forget (damnit!).

1. No, it will only stun you. Or it might bruise you a bit.
2. I don't think so, and it has been supposedly proven that it does not (sadly).
3. No, they need to be linked to a pressure plate or lever.
4. No, they delay by a long friggin time (between 3 and 6 seconds).
5. It is a setting when you build the pressure plate (dwarf activated: yes/no) but I think merchants will activate it when it is their size/weight setup.


What you could do is drop thee into a spiked pit, then repeatedly pull the spike lever to skewer them over and over. That's what I do.

Catapults are almost useless. I haven't tried/killed my own dwarves with the the ballista yet, so I can't help you there,

However, it seems catapults are only good for destroying stone, training siege operators, or killing things in a 1 tile wide corridor, and even then you need 6 or more to get any results.

Wrong. Half of your fort will be beaten into a crippled state, or just killed.
