On a more serious note, that was a pretty good summary.

and thanks, I try.  And don't take my criticism at face value, I'm sure you know what you're doing, I just always have doors on my fortresses so I find it slightly odd.
Edit: Also, I won't be able to pick up the save until Sunday afternoon or play it until at least Monday, in case you finish earlier.

Mask watched the Louse Men from his post on top of the hill.  They seemed living enough, but one could never be too sure.  She had read about these places, lands where nature itself had been corrupted, where death became life.  By the law of the mountainhomes, no dwarf was to set foot in them, on penalty of death.

Beside him, he felt Batdwarf stiffen.  She turned the direction Batdwarf was pointing and froze.  A foul mist was forming, slowly picking up speed as it moved across the ground.  These mists were rumored to have many effects, all of them painful and the anathema of life.
"Gnorm!"
"Yes, Mask? Are the undead here already?"
"Get everyone inside!  Now!  I'll explain then!"
"You heard her!  Everyone, indoors,  now!"
Mask sprinted for the entrance, Batdwarf following close behind.  When they were inside, the heavy wooden doors were slammed shut and locked behind them.

Things have been going well. We got to kill a titan, it was an incredible sight, so much raw power in one being. But most magnificent of all was the way it twitched as it fell, pity I didn't land the last shot. I wonder how valuable it's remains are, I really should go examine it.

I find myself remembering that necromancer in my idle moments, the way she twitched, the way her blood glistened in the sun. I hope some goblins arrive soon. I need a little... Fun.

Awesome.  But nothing about being decked in the dining hall?

Maskwolf walks over to her desk, baby in hand, seemingly deep in thought.  She takes out a well-worn leather journal from a drawer and pulls the quill from the inkwell, beginning to write:

I find myself considering what Grimmash said to me after I came out of my trance.  He said that Grim meant no harm in his actions.  Perhaps I was too harsh in initially condemning Grim.  He is an honest dwarf like the rest of us.

Nonetheless, I don't like the looks he's given me lately.  His glare is bad enough, but his eyes... something about his eyes makes me nervous.  It's something in the way he looks at me...

At this point, the baby starts to cry and she gets up from her desk, walking to the food stockpile for some alcohol to quiet it.

Yep, that's why I mentioned we could make silver :D that, combined with iron armour (hopefully steel later) and bronze also, it should work fantastically.
Unless I used all of our dolomite wall building (and that would be a really big facepalm scenario) we should have plenty of flux to make steel.

Also, though your time is technically up, I'm willing to give you a two day extension on the fortress.  You're updates are looking good so far.  The new deadline is 11:59 Friday.  Have fun with the fortress!

I woke up yesterday, standing in a leatherworks holding a finely crafted shoe. While I'm sure it was valuable... I felt like I had been used. I couldn't work leather any better, I wasn't even aware of the fact that I had made it. Grimmash tried to be nice, but I know what he was thinking: this artifact was worthless, and so was my greatest achievement at this fortress.

My duty now is to be a good mother to my child. Grim will have to wait. My child needs me first and foremost. I am going to put in a request to resign from military duty and become a bowyer, to equip our military with fine wooden and bone crossbows. Failing that, leather worker, to produce leather armor for our archers.

Oh, and ShadowHammer, I don't know if you saw this earlier but you have grown attached to your copper war hammer. Which means you won't unequip it. Ever. Sorry. Note to all overseers: keep him out of combat. Use him to train our squads. Oh, and DarkArtemisFowl, actually, when you have the resources give both of us like four recruits. It will cut down on idle dwarves and at this point we're good enough soldiers we'll train them descently fast.

Also, we knew what you were saying, but you wrote Grim twice when you meant Maskwolf.

Zulban cowered against the wall as Mask stormed in, hoping he would be overlooked. To no avail. Mask grabbed him by the shoulder and hurled him against the wall.
"Armok damn it, that was your squad leader you son of an elf. HE WAS OUR BEST WRESTLER! YOUR TRAINER!"
"Sssssssssssirrrrr, we were just horsing around"
"Horsing around my ass, you up and killed him. If we had a jail set up yet,  I would send you there permanently. As is, all I can do is discharge you from the military. Permanently."

OOC: take his squad off of the active/training if Zekariah agrees with me, he won't train very well as a one man squad anyway. Also, whenever we get another hammer and axe, unassign shadowhammer and I from our squad, place us in a squad of our respective weapon, and give us a rookie each to work with.

My dwarf is going to get a barracks set up during the first season. After that, have him train for a while, I won't be online until late Sunday.

DF Suggestions / Re: Embassies/In Fortress Diplomacy

I agree with everything on this thread.  Having diplomacy happen in your fort would be awesome.  Also, varying the caravan arrival times more to reflect how far away the civilization is would be a change of a similar style.  Might even make diplomacy more interesting, if you favor one liason over another because their caravan arrives more frequently.
