General Discussion / Re: Intellectual vs. Pseudointellectual
« on: August 14, 2011, 10:10:35 pm »
Dictionary.com defines 'pseudo' as:
1. not actually but having the appearance of; pretended; false or spurious; sham.
2. almost, approaching, or trying to be.

So everyone is right.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Dwarves not using bins

Look at the stockpile's menu (with [q] I believe) and make sure that bins are allowed to be used. You can set the amount.

Check out ebay, if you haven't already. I just checked and saw several things that seemed to be close to what you're looking for.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Migrants having no skills?

All of them are unskilled? As in peasants? If absolutely all of them have no skills at all it could be a bug...or you are just very unlucky.

Life Advice / Re: Starting a good, healthy diet
« on: July 18, 2011, 12:05:31 pm »
Fish, if you can get it, is an excellent source of protein and I've heard health experts recommend eating it once a week. Fresh vegetables are always great. I've heard it is best to get a variety of different colored fruits and vegetables in your meals, greens, reds, oranges, purples etc. Spinach is a good source of iron.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Food Selection
« on: July 09, 2011, 08:13:17 pm »
i dont know.  i have thousands upon thousands of roasts, made with everything i can trade and butcher, yet i still get little bastards going out of their way to get a plump helmet and eat it...  in a jail cell, when they had to walk through a (mainly empty) legendary dining hall to get there.
Yeah, I have 1400 masterfully prepared meals and I still see dwarves in the dining hall chowing down on plain cleaned fish.

Life Advice / Re: A Legacy of Six String Terror

I've been playing for two or three years now, primarily acoustic. I realize you're just starting out but after a few months and once you start to get the hang of things I think a great way to learn on your own is to just look up tabs to songs that you like...tablature is very useful because it takes about 30 seconds to figure out how to read, unlike say sheet music. There are usually accurate tabs for more popular songs, and you may get lucky and find accurate ones for more obscure songs. Just google '(song name) tabs'.

I'm tired and can't think of any other advice right now...good luck and have fun!

Why the long face?

Couldn't resist. Probably better than I could draw. But shouldn't this be in the giant DF art thread?

In case anyone is curious, I ended up picking up the first few books in The Dark Tower series.  I read a small snippet/prologue/whatever in another book and I really enjoyed it. Already finished book one :)
I really enjoyed those.

Other Games / Re: Minecraft - It has blocks.

Just wanted to share that I started playing (for the first time) yesterday and today I found diamond, redstone, some iron, lava, water and a dungeon with cocoa beans and other goodies within about 20 squares of each other deep down in a cave at 14-y.

General Discussion / Re: Tea or Coffee?
« on: May 18, 2011, 04:58:06 pm »
I love both. I like my coffee very bold with half a teaspoon of sugar. I like most sorts of hot tea, peppermint is probably my favorite though, also with a half teaspoon of sugar. Iced tea is also nice, but it's usually made too sweet.

Benzoyl-Peroxide works great, but it's kinda expensive, about three dollars for six ounces.
I took Accutane (mainly for bad back and shoulder breakout) for five months and it cleared up everything, although I would only resort to that if your case is extreme and you're willing to risk side effects. But before that, this benzoyl peroxide is the only apply-to-face product that actually worked for me. It's the magic behind Proactiv, but you can buy in small tubes at any drugstore. I would wash my face with warm water, then apply a thin layer of this before I went to sleep and it made a noticeable difference. It works by drying out the skin and killing bacteria. Be careful about getting it on fabrics though because it acts as a bleach and will discolor dyed materials.

I think free Gold weekends include Friday. Usually something like 10AM Friday to 12 midnight Sunday.
