I'm also interested in the results of casting on top of constructed floors. If I mine out the obsidian, will that reveal the object used to create the construction, or will that item be removed from the game, or will it remain in my stocks screen as a ghost item?

Also, regarding the bridge scenario, will a cave-in occur if the cast obsidian is connected to a wall when it's created?

Seeking input from players who have experience with using the bottomless pit as a magma reservoir. I'm playing on a map with a magma pipe and a bottomless pit, and I want to create a screw pump tower between the two that will create three multi-z level magma stores.

My main question revolves around the bottom of the pit. I think I remember someone talking about smoothing the pit's lower tiles to create a surface that will support magma. Does this need to be done using constructions, or can it be accomplished a different way? I'd rather not use constructions for this job if I can avoid it. Casting the magma is an option, since I have a river nearby, but that's gonna be a lot of effort.

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: Known bug. You're advised not to deconstruct the depot after the traders arrive. They track their wealth entering the map and compare it to their wealth leaving the map. Results showing positive gain result in positive relations, and negative gain will result in hostilities.

Anyway.  Since the first release of DF2010 should be in the very near future (yet oh so far away)...  will Dwarf Therapist be updated fairly quickly for it?  Or has the creator of Dwarf Therapist perhaps lost interest in DF or become too busy to deal with DT?
My fork of DT which uses DFHack will be updated very quickly after DF2010, as soon as we can get DFHack updated for the release.  The main fork will not be updated unless chmod comes back to do it himself, which he may do at some point, I don't know.

My fork is available at Dwarf Therapist - DFHack, so check that for updates.

As for your argument, it's the reason why there are so many organizations out there begging you for money to save the starving children in country X. Go ahead and adopt one if you feel the burning of your social conscience.

I would like to see weight increased by studding a weapon with lead. Lead studded steel war hammers would be quite nice. Better yet, have it menacing with spikes of blue metal.
