That reminds me that I haven't posted some of the more refined portraiture that I now keep comparing things to >_>

Part of the reason I don't like Mr. Plague Man is that I spent... three? Four? hours variously doodling and trying to make something stick and ended up with a rough finished product, when I know I can knock out a much nicer piece (in terms of rendering and brushwork, anyway) in the same time or less.

A new pixel art commission I did

It's been a while since I've done pixel art, very pleased with the result.

This is cool! Big fan of the roses especially.

The Jester sprite:

I suck at reading spritesheets when the animation isn't served to me on a platter but it looks good to me!

But I'm still alive. Crikey time flies, that photo is somehow four months old already O_o

There's a lot to be said for box construction. Even for fairly complex shapes, you can usually get away with drawing 3-4 boxes and extrapolating the curves through their edges.

I usually find that references are also critical. No point spending hours trying to mentally construct the perspective when you could take five minutes and check how it actually looks. References also help figure out a point of, well, reference for future box constructions to draw variant views.

Greyscale blocking is also used to lay out values for composition, which I'd say is actually its most important use.

I'm not dead, despite what feels like various things' best efforts.

Krita is my painting program of choice. I've also heard good things about FireAlpaca. Paint Tool SAI and Photoshop are both popular, but also both premium.

In a disconcerting turn of events, when I'm warmed up my range is good enough to sing Dio and Scorpions songs in the original register. My timbre is probably unspeakable and the tuning imperfect, but hey, I can hit the notes. FeelsWeirdMan.

30 minute sketch for a giveaway prize. Full resolution here. And when I say full, I mean full - it's about 9k by 2.4k. I'm really happy with the way the painterly effects came out.

Needles are pretty spooky. I don't really mind them, 'cause it doesn't hurt much and I'm pretty resilient (huzzah for not bruising), but I always expect it to hurt.

I have a mood tracker on my phone. It alerts me a few times a day, and I can log my mood on a scale of 1-5 with two taps (I can add detail like nuance, activities, and text notes if I really want). I find it useful.
