What's a good, profanity-free alternative to the word "mindfuck"?
I'm sure there has to be one somewhere that I have just tragically forgotten. Or is this slang term actually filling an important void in the English language? One similar phrase I've seen is "head trip," but sources conflict as to just what that really means.

I don't usually worry about cursing, but I was shocked to realise that I don't know of any synonyms for it.
Mindscrew!
Mindbang!
Mindshag!

So I'm unwrapping my New Year presents and...

There's a book on how to duel properly, with illustrations of dueling weapons and lots of handy info, including actual text of Durasov's 1908 Russian dueling code. Some other cool stuff, too, but that one I like.

И Вас также. Из столицы Вам наши поздравления!

Is there some significance to the black/white chequered decal along the bottom there?

In Wh40k, Orks believe that checkers make armor (any sort of panel on the outside of the vehicle, in broader terms) tougher, in the same manner as painting a vehicle red makes it go faster.
...and that concludes random facts by Comrade P.

Well I'm an optimist that way, so what I question is not whether or not we will come up with the technology, but how are we going to use it.

Nuclear powered helicarrier

Are you telling me that gigantic aerial battleship from Avengers is actually going to be an Amazon warehouse?

There is a slur of problems with blimps, yes, BUT every other alternative I can think of is going to cost a fucking fortune in fuel expenses alone. Plus emissions from burning said fuel, but who has ever cared about emissions when tremendous amounts of money are involved.

E: I think I was in seventh grade when I did that little bit of research for a project about airborne aircraft carriers, and my conclusion back then went "this idea really sucks, but if you absolutely must have one, go with a blimp".

Tonight, you're getting smashed with either this here beer, or this iron mug.

BUT WHAT KIND OF AIRSHIP ARE THEY GOING TO USE?

Prolonged flight without much movement? That sounds like a job for a blimp.

This summer, while working in a warehouse, I got myself one of these:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And the trick is, they leave enough room in below-belt part to wear pants underneath, but if you don't, you get awesome ventilation! Would definitely recommend if you, like me, don't like shorts.
There is just one fundamental problem, and that is, if you need to claim your place on porcelain throne, you can't really do so in a hurry (without some training, at least).

My hair has somehow partially rolled itself together into a vortex-like shape, stupid-unrealistic-anime-hair style. What.

Somebody, somewhere, is probably paying their hairdresser a hefty sum to get this hairstyle right. You get it for free. Ain't that a New Year present?
