Does anyone know if soil walls will lace water with mud?

How long would it take for kobold thieves to go away if they are locked out of my fortress? because one showed up and I slammed the door closed.

That won't stop them usually. They'll just pick the lock, but once spotted they should run like hell and get out of the area.

I should mention that my door is a giant raising bridge. No lock to pick. Hehe

EDIT: Can a dwarf climb back up a channeled tile? Or am I going to condemn a dwarf to drown if I were to channel down and fill 3 z-levels with water? Or should I make stairs down to the final level where the water will end up stored and then destroy the top stair so nobody goes in and the water doesn't flood my fort?

Does the stockpile allow bins?
Or do you have reserved bins (press p to check, you know).

Yes and no. Max bins allowed and no reserved bins.

Not enough bins?
I have plenty of bins, but the single one that is in the stockpile is empty and the crafts remain in the workshop

Setting up Rock Crafts to be used as trade fodder... and I realized that despite setting up a stockpile for finished goods, including all of the crafts, the crafts are staying in the workshop. Any ideas how to fix this?

I wanted to start a little well project by channeling down to 2 z-levels to try and fill it up with water. Then I realized it would take ages to fill since the brook with infinite water is at the top of the map and I'm at the bottom. ...and I forgot whether or not dorfs can climb back up their channeled holes so I don't have to sacrifice one when I trigger the brook's flooding of the well.

About to set up the first, and so far only, defense in my fort. The majestic drawbridge gate. But... I don't remember how to set it up so that when the bridge retracts, it retracts OUTWARDS, flinging any enemies outside the fort rather than INSIDE it.

Okay, I'm a bit paranoid now. Why is it that when I save (or generate worlds), it starts to do the standard "Not Responding" thing? >w> I'm scared it will crash and I will lose progress. is it just the single-processor being overwhelmed or what?

The installed item is in red text, so Phoebus is both working and installed. The TwbT plugin means that menus and text are in ASCII, but once you embark it'll be Phoebus.

Even during world gen? ...Okay. Thanks Peridexis. Time to let the !!FUN!! begin, I suppose.

There's no GUI

Your antivirus ate it.

I extract it on a different computer and move it over to the one I want to play on, like I did with the 34 installation... I click the GUI and windows says "The (pathing) cannot be found." and then deletes the .exe. What the crap?!

Yep. Windows is checking the first time it opens, thinks it's suspicious, and deletes it. I can't do more specific troubleshooting on how to prevent this, but that's the problem. Try googling something like "antivirus restore file (version, product, etc)"

I even ran it as an administrator so Windows would be like "Oh hey, maybe it ISN'T suspicious after all." but no, it still didn't work. And I've tried to google things like that and I found nothing. -3-

EDIT: Managed to find a way to make it work. ...but now I'm wondering. Is Phoebus just not updated yet? Because I have the data for Phoebus, but it won't actually be USED despite selecting it.

I just started coming back to DF after a LONG break... and um... There's no GUI in the 40_19 and I can't find a way to start the utilities in the nice format so I can actually EDIT things like what tileset is used and actually getting the utilities to start up upon starting the game.

TLDR; I have no way of opening up LNP to edit the tileset and change population limits and so on.

I just started a new adventurer... And my first quest? To kill the same vile kobold that killed my first adventurer on this world! Talk about revenge!

A crocodile ate my left leg. So I threw a dagger into its lung. Also got pounced by six lions and killed them all while I remained unscathed. Before that croc, that is.
