I think it's in the plans, but I think we will have to wait for the Life Cycle Arc. It would be good to have it before, though.

Good suggestion. I think you should be able to know the age of your dwarves in fortress mode too, and a idea of the age of people in the adventure mode.

-Realist usage of tools in workshops and jobs that need them
    - mason tools(or the dwarves break the stones with their bare hands?), carpenter's tools(saw), metalsmith's tools...DF is a complex game, and item making currently is too simple. Your starting dwarves should start with their job's tools, and migrants could bring theirs, but every other one would need to be contructed or bought in the caravans.

-(d)esignate (D)ump

-Easy building of walls and floors.

Come on, there is a new update every week, and Toady keeps a detailed progress daily. What more we could want?

DF Suggestions / Re: Should used clothing really be that valuable?..
« on: February 09, 2007, 02:16:00 pm »
Hauling is so annoying as it is - the same dwarf who hauled that big rock is needed to haul a little glove.

Just one dwarf should carry a lot of clothes pieces, not only one. Just like one lone dwarf shouldn't haul a big and heavy rock.

I disagree.

The sum of the two modes is what made this game unique.

And the adveture mode as it is is just another roguelike, but developed it can be a lot more.

DF Suggestions / Locking doors
« on: October 20, 2006, 09:38:00 pm »
Currently,in the Fortress mode you can lock the doors without any interntion of the dwarves. This isn't right - to lock a door a dwarf should go to it, or you could link mechanisms to a lever or a pressure plate to lock them. The way it is, if you suffer a siege or a ambush, it is too easy to lock the invaders.

It would be nice if you could just abandon your fortress and let it running by itself at some point.

And I would like very much if you canīt find every kind of precious or useful metal ever discovered by the dwarves at one fortress. You should have a few kind of ores, and should had to trade for the others. This would give a greater importance in trading - as it is, trading is only useful at the beggining of the fortress.

It was impossible to defeat it. It bind all my limbs, in a way I only could bite it. Then it torn apart the limbs one by one, then the head. Like a horror movie!  :D

DF Suggestions / Re: dead dwarfs/gobbos/mans/wathever cloth

I was thinking in making a related suggestion yesterday.

The first part would be item gdamaging by the weather (though I think it's in the the dev pages) - rust of iron itens, rotting of clothes, food, wood, left outside.

Usually itens hang outside for years until my dwarves bring them inside to be dumped or sold to caravans.

Clothes and another organic materials should rot in a year when left at the weather - completely dissapearing. If you want them, you should bring them inside ASAP.

Iron would rust in a few years. Other metals could be covered my sand and mud and lost forever.

Obviously, named itens, artifacts and masterpieces could be dug back later.  :)

Another suggestion would be that itens of the dead should be forbidden as soon as they owners are killed, as arrows and bolts are when fired. This could be an option. This would avoid stuipd dwarves being killed when trying to recover itens of fallen comrades.  :)

I consider myself a hardcore DF player and I don't use any tileset. I just got too used to the default one.   :)

Toady is modest. That is all. He is a great coder. There are games with bugdgets of millions and a lot less complex than DF crash every 10 minutes. And they are sold this way.
