What is trillium used for?
Everything, you'll need a lot.  Nearly as much as consumer goods.
The tech level of one of my planets is going down. How to fix that?
Designate it, connect a foundation world to it, or build tech projects on it.

I know where you are now, abdicate.  You are stuck in dark nebula, and the sensor damping effect of it will hurt you way past the point you can advance where you are.

It's an ok defense location.

The black part of the map (not to be confused with the dark part of the map) is unexplored.  Larger fleets of explorers can see further, I average sending initial fleets of 100.  The circle immediately around your world is how far they can see and the second larger circle is how far you have imperial control.  You don't get to see the view distance of fleets, that you have to work out on your own.

The only NPCs in game are the Mesophon (who you can sell/buy stuff from) and secession states.  Both these don't do anything actively and the server isn't old enough for someone to have had a sector capitol break away.

Edit: Just noticed 3 lightly defended ocean worlds that I kind of ignored.  They shall become the back bone of my new starship production, and a infantry academy, or a jumpship autofac, or another consumer goods world.

Stockpiles won't be moved through trade routes, only production.  The amount of resources to be moved takes time to calculate and will change each minute(watch) until it hits an equilibrium.  You can move stockpiles manually, though that can cause issues.

A large number of things you do take time to take effect.  The biggest one that isn't exactly obvious is efficiency on planets.  This changes the production output of the available workforce.  This takes a big drop each time a planet is conquered, it's designation is changed or a negative event (low supplies, low happiness, revolt, civil war).  A planet regains efficiency over time.

A high tech, un-inhabitable world with low efficiency can become a uncontrollable location for a long time as it gets stuck in a loop of civil wars when ever a player controls it.  This happens when a world has such a low efficiency, and to high of a static tech level and (even with imported resources) it dosen't meet it's need for life support items because it didn't calculate in the lower efficiency for the automated assignment of the production of life support materials.  Which causes negative events that lower efficiency that isn't calculated for when auto assigning work for life support items which yadda yadda yaddas.

This also can be caused by teching up a world prematurely,  though these self right a little better as they drop in tech after they civil war into independence. Which means they'll stop having issues because they won't demand things they can't supply.

Also, how do I get the combat view? I really misjudged an assault (thinking combat was numerical, rather than simulated) and don't want to make the same mistake again (or at least be entertained in the process)
Zoom in.  During combat a button will appear that will insta-zoom you to orbit view of the planet.

There are some guides but for early expansion target worlds that are protected by only missiles with a fleet made of ships with missile defenses.  If you have enough ships/defenses per ship then you can take out a worlds orbital defenses without any loss.  This is also true if you out range the defenses.  I'm pretty confident the large starship is still the longest range ship in game, and worth investing into early by designating a starship yard and factory early.

Also targets in order of early importance is Trillium sources and consumer goods.  The more of the things a world needs that it imports the more it can produce of it's designation.

It's fun, has potential. But development has been slow.

Worth a few moments of my time again I guess.

The combat felt faster, in a good way.  Didn't feel AS dragged down by watching numbers as before.  Still a "shooting" game with numbers, but it feels more shooty than before.

The graphics are improved, just very little.  Character models look less than 4 years old and the draw distance isn't PS/N64 era anymore (a little exaggeration, but not by much).

I may play some after the "release".

HVAC units are used to cool down air passing through them, they are further into the tech tree.  You should be able to unlock them and insulated air ducts in a normal game before heat becomes a major issue.  Big thing to do is NOT make to many things that produce heat, like coal generators.

No, it was a free to play after only a year after release.  It had packages for sale after you no longer had to buy to play, like most free to plays.

Honestly looks like they are trying to copy Destiny/Warframe.

If you just do repeated double heavy attack with the pike (click-click, short pause, click-click) you can keep a large number of enemies stun locked with the pike.  If you go full combo you have a short gap at the end that leaves you open and you have to dodge.  If you never finish the combo you can attack fast enough with hits that stagger to never leave an opening.

So they turned their April fools joke into an actual game.  Not actually surprised.

Edit: Looked it up, this is what these guys do.

Tower 2 is ostensibly done.  Original stated goal is complete, you can take a elevator(s) up to the top then an elevator across to Chaosmouth.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Top floor also includes a publicly available map room.  So anyone in the area that wants to use it just take the elevators seen on the left side of the image.  I had to make that... abomination (that killed me twice making it) because I hit the limit for how far vertical elevators will go.  Also you take your own life into your hands when you take it, I didn't want to take the time to install any safety features.

I'll get some screens of the internals and the view from the top at some point.

Now that Tower 2 is done we have begun work on Tower 3.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

On the left is the Annex Tower, or Tower 3.2.  It contains the wheel of pain, a mitra shrine and a publicly accessible map room.  Just take the side stairs to get to it.

The main tower on the right has the beginning of a public tavern(The Lonely Nord) on the second floor.  Has a stage, over looking balcony and eventually a out door deck.  Zero furniture but am planning to fix that at some point.  If you are traveling to the Volcano why not stop by.  The neighbors get a bit rowdy but the bouncers keep them in check.

While I was out exploring I found a giant face that was an entrance to a cave.  Inside was this massive chamber.  My first thought was this was a boss room.  I was right, partially.  The shot is from the other side after climbing up.  Down below is a bunch of spiders, ruined boats that are on fire, and a sand reaper boss.  I climbed up the pillar in the center.  Kind of let down the chest only had a few coins.  Behind is a further passage that leads to the Highlands, so I found a shortcut from the jungle to the snow.

I still want to know how those boats got up into the jungle then down into that cave and are still on fire.

Tower 2 continues to grow.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Shot of the tower at night a day ago.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Same state during the day from the other side.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The most recent.  Over 2/3 of the way to being tall enough to just walk over to Chaosmouth.  I've also created a tavern, The Hermits Breath, that is now open to the public in the middle of the tower.  Enter from either of the Elevators that stand alone with a brazier next them.  Provides shelter and booze.  Have a good supply of mead, ale and wine.  Be sure to stop on by on your way north.  In fact if you are heading north why not use the bridge I made on the other side of Chaosmouth.  If heading back from the north just head straight south from New Asgarth.

Need to get around to fixing the walls that face the wrong way.

It's a non-passworded, publicly listed PvP server.  You are going to get griefers.

It probably wasn't anyone you interacted with.  Could have been anyone who was on when you kept saying where you built, or someone just stumbled on your place.  I've been building my stuff from day one to be secure, and someone still messed with me.  You can only trust the public on the internet so far.
