Yeah my last city faced a temporary flooding along the river, rendered a few bridges unpassable.  I had so many pumps that the river was backing up from the sea, bringing the sewage with it.  I moved the pumps to be distributed on a lake nearby and the tidal wave created on the old river by this was pretty big.  Also my dam went from producing 450mw to 580mw after I moved those pumps away.

I've found that you need to distribute your pumps around otherwise you can actually cause backups by leaving them on a single river.

My suggestion is to not use real stars, set the number of systems to around 200, and set spawn chance to 100.  If you start with 1-2 nprs you should find them within 8-10 points from your home.

Apparently, two lane roads are the key to traffic management, mostly because intersections by two lane roads don't produce traffic lights.
I would LOVE fine control over roads in a game like this.  Put a lighted intersection here, this four lane is one way, this four lane is 3 one way 1 the other, this lane is for turning this is for going through, this intersection has stop signs these directions.

No matter how you build you will get backups. [snip] They will eventually fill to all edges of the map.
Actually not true, after 4 cities at over 150k pop I've only one ever had backups with trains, and that was due to flooding from a dam.

WAY overly complex, just way over designed.  In order to allow your trains to turn around you've given them terribly sharp turns and WAY to many intersections.  Trains go the same speed backwards as they do forwards, and make your intersections have enough length for just one train so it can wait if it needs to.

Basically you have one train holding up another who is holding up another train who is ... ad nauseum until you get to the train stalling up the first train.  Thankfully the game has a system that recognizes vehicles that are stalled/stuck and will actually despawn them to allow traffic to start up again.

Your station services two trains at once? What a slut.

I'm kidding. It looks awesome.
4, actually what with it having two double lines.  I would love to see a single lane version, and a lifted version.  So I could use it as a station for a L train.

If you look while in the metro view you can see your metro trains.  They are the same color as the lines they use so they blend in perfectly though.

Cemeteries and landfills set to empty that are empty will use their vehicles to transport to crematoriums and incinerators, respectively.

Don't change zones while on high speed, do it while paused or on slow.  The buildings collapsing because you removed a zone will create patchwork zones.  Kind of annoying but easily worked around.

Only real traffic problem is on the West end of The Knot going south into Test Site #4.

I also messed around with stacking up dams

Yeah, you can use normal level power lines to cross over any level of elevated road.

How is this game?
I was going to post something like "From the video's I've seen I'm going to say at the minimum this is the game that Sim Cities should have been." but I'm to drunk and I want to go into detail and I've had to fix so many typos to go any further.

A good way to design a city (in reality and hopefully in game (seeing some of the ai for traffic for this has me worried)) is to have high volume alternating oneways going n/s or e/w while the alternating direction goes plain two lane.

In reality those towns time their lights so that if you are on one of the one ways you should be able to go through with out stopping.

From what I've seen the traffic AI needs work.  I would LOVE if I could do custom roads.  Set speeds, turn lanes, and other such things.  Like making a 4 lane road that has only one lane going in one direction or making a two lane one direction with a top speed of 100.

It's on Steam so the release is going to be in the morning for the American east coast, so shut down steam before you go to bed tonight and relaunch it in the morning.
