On the other end of the scale, it also gets boring if the entire game-universe is at peace, ruled by a giant super-alliance of the most powerful empires.
The thing that so many people don't understand about these kind of games is that you NEED the assholes and the peaceful people.  If it's just assholes no ones really doing anything besides wrecking everything and with just peaceful people you get no conflict.

All these hermits need to realize that you can JOIN the assholes "ruining" the game.  They'll ignore you AND you'll actually join the community.  You don't even need to do anything other than just be social.  Hell, you may even eventually join in doing something fun.

The homeworld base resource amount was increased in a recent patch.

Didn't know that you could randomly get a game for free during the GoG insomnia sale.  Was going to buy Xenonauts but got it for free instead.

You get one city with expandable city limits.  You can segregate your city with districts and give each district it's own specific polices (This place has farming and X level of taxes, this area is generic industry with Y level taxes).

So...my fighters moral is going down. They've been deployed (on their carrier) for more than 12 months, so that is fine. Just...the carrier has only been deployed for a little over 11 months and its moral is still fine. :D
(They are on training excercise, usually they are home by this time.)
Does your carrier have enough spare berths for the fighter crews?

There are multiple answers to the finite resource idea that don't involve deplete-able sources.
1) The easiest is player harvest only.  By hand or with some tool a player has to be there to gather the resource.  Possibility of some kind of automation but by and large best to go from node/source/cloud/harvester to gather the resource.  Could even have to kill something/someone to get the resource.
2) An accessibility system, similar to Aurora's but with values over 100%.  Could use elements of thought 1 (player to gather the highest value stuff) but rarer resources would on average be slow to gather and places where it's easiest to get could be locations of conflict.

I personally hate item/resource quality systems and prefer tiered resources.  By doing gradient values you just promote either grinding (Wurm) or endless hunts for a rare version of a rare resource (SoH).

One can only hope that Paradox will not pack the game with DLCs that change the gameplay in a major way, like the Way of Life or Republic DLCs for ck2. Even if they do it, though, the game is already pretty good on its own, and the modding potential will keep it alive for long.
This is a Paradox published game and not a Paradox developed game.  So good chance that there is just going to be "content" packs.

"Content" as in new building model, music and sound packs.

The game needs work on what exists, not new features.  The majority of the last few years updates have just been useless at making the game better.  Making it look better as opposed to run better, changing city building to be freeform over rigid instead of I providing any kind of management.  All that hasn't truley made the game better.

I don't trust Haxus as a developer to actually improve anything, just continue to add new features and functions that don't help the gameplay.

Need to have a colony designated at the target.

Homeworld 3 (Shipbreakers) is planned to be a 2d planet surface only prequel. Pisses me off.
Also originally planned to be a tablet focused game.  I have no hopes for it.

They didn't leak on the first hit, they had at 3 layers.  Kind of remembering when I used wh 16 missiles along time ago they crippled in 3-5 hits.  Then again those missiles had 100% chance to hit.  I'm wondering if the swarm uses the exact same ships in each game or if they are designed per game.

Trying to remember the time I had a running engagement with 80 some swarmers and had to rely on my AMMs to stop them.  Was just able to stop them then

My last game with warhead 9 missiles and a 65% chance to hit it took an average of 10 to kill/cripple.  5 Missiles per target gave a 20% kill cripple on the first hit and kill rate rose to a 90% on the following 5 missiles.  10 missiles in a single salvo was a 90%.

Those buggers actually do have armor layers.  What they don't have is the ability to quickly repair damaged engines.  Aim to cripple them at range with missiles and mop up with 100k+ range energy weapons.

The plants are just plant faction buildings, similar to the other buildings are based on the faction that uses the same territory.

Crescent ships are the top right one.  Not a fan of their limited weapon choices.
