General Discussion / Re: Things that made you go "WTF?" today o_O
« on: January 25, 2015, 11:22:23 am »
Oh yeah, my WTF for today.
I caught myself laughing to music. As in, I was listening to it and feelin pretty damn good, when I stopped for a sec and realized I was laughing out loud. It wasn't even a funny song, or one with lyrics even. I'm pretty sure it was a fast-paced violin or piano song.

Was it one that's seen use in comedies, like te Liberty Bell March, the Hungarian Dance, or Yakkity Sax, or Spanish Flea?
Not even. I think it was either this or this.

Nothing funny related to them at all, which is why it's so strange I was laughing. Just random happy laughter, I guess.

Also, thank the GIMP gods for smooth stroke. The spirally bit at the center would have never happened if that option wasn't there.
Where is this? o_O
It's near the bottom of the tool options menu for the pen-like tools (pen, pencil, eraser, airbrush, etc). Basically, it lets the line lag a bit behind the cursor to smooth hard corners, which is a godsend for people like me.

Also, I found out through wikipedia that there are towns called, and I quote, "Intercourse and Blue Ball" in Pennsylvania. The names didn't age well, it seems.
edit: ninja, and no.

It's midnight
Tried to get the half indoors half outdoors cats back in and one of the indoors only cats escaped so guess who got to chase after a cat in flip flops and underpants?

I hope to god you live in the Southern Hemisphere
Why's that?
Because it's winter here in the NH, I presume. It's warmer in the SH.
edit: ARGH screwed up mah quotes

Pessimism took all of my stress away.
It's basically the new Zen.

Also I can't believe that the punocaplypse died as soon as it began.
D: I envy you.
You know, after all the disappointments and the internet, you would think that my optimism would have died by now. It seems to be a stubborn beast and it just won't stay dead. GodDAMMIT brain.Stupid emotions argablarg

Mmm... Well, if it makes people happy and doesn't kill them or negatively effect others I can't see the harm in it...

But then, in what are they different from something like marijuana for instance? (Or are they considered similar?)
Morphine?

Marijuana can help with the nausea but that isnt bad for you, if you over do it (like anything) It can be bad for your health mostly with complacent thoughts.
Things like opiates are just a pain killer and you cant get much spirituality when your brain is overloaded with feelgoods. I would suggest stay away from opiates and barbiturates. Also things like stimulants aren't any good.
psychedelics are good if you are ready and healthy. Lsd while has its uses is more for fun I've found.
So no morphine isn't "spiritual"
Actually, opium dreams are quite common, and tend to be very vivid. They could be taken as spiritual, depending on the content of the dream. While hallucinogens might have the most sudden effects, other drugs can cause religious or spiritual feelings as well. Hell, tobacco, a stimulant, was used religiously at one point, and that causes no hallucinations at all. Basically anything that causes altered states or feelings will at one point or another have been attributed to a religious or spiritual influence, even such things as fasting and sleep deprivation, which cause intense visions without the use of any external drug.

I never found the WTF thread to be too "feely".
A drop in my faith in humanity counts as well, which happens surprisingly oftendamn optimism, including there.

PTW to try and counter the feels from the sad/RAGE/WTF threads.

Went to family counseling today. Normally it's not bad, but this time my dad started crying about how "he's mourning his son" and how "his son is gone and a person he doesn't know has replaced him."

I tried to put a happy spin on it and tell him that in losing a son he's gained a daughter but he didn't even let me finish before snapping back at me. "Oh shut up! It's not even about that!" So I bit my tongue at sat in seething silence until he was done crying like a baby because his family didn't turn out the way he'd hoped.

What I wanted to say was, "Oh be quiet. You don't even know how good you have it right now. You're working your dream job and you have a wife who loves you. You have two (in your own words) incredibly smart daughters and dozens upon dozens of hugely supportive friends. You have a house. You have two cats and a dog. What do I have? I barely have a roof over my head. I'm unemployed, on food stamps, almost all of the few friends I have live in other states or countries and I've only ever had one relationship that lasted over a month. Stop making out like you're the victim because one thing out of the myriad hopes and dreams you had as a kid didn't pan out. You have it better than a lot of people, including me. You want a son? Go adopt a fucking son. I've never been your son and I was never going to be. Get the fuck over it and definitely stop trying to guilt trip me over something that's not even my fault."

What I actually said was, "Yea, I understand that."
D:
Damn.
I suck at giving support/trying to comfort people even in real life, and worse on the internet, so I'm just gonna say that you really don't deserve that, at all. Stay strong.

It's actually probably NBT data. Anything more complex than a single number (such as durability or item subtype --think kinds of wood) is usually NBT data.
Aaand that's what I actually meant (thank you). Goddammit brain. Remember yo data types.

822
Work out what the item ID is. At least, I imagine the crossbows have different IDs and it's not all metadata.
I think it's all metadata, but the item id can be seen by doing f3-h and mousing over an item.

Alright, something I've been wanting to make for a while, but only got around to about 3 hours ago and finished now. Namely, the companion to this thing I did a while ago.
Spoiler: Chaos (click to show/hide)
Still not totally satisfied with the center symbol's position, but I'll fix that later.

Also, thank the GIMP gods for smooth stroke. The spirally bit at the center would have never happened if that option wasn't there.

edit:
A few more things for tonight:
Spoiler: Size-matching (click to show/hide)

I don't know how to do that ;-;
Do what?
There was a few things we were talking about, so I'm a bit confused, sorry.

I think mcfry can look at your player .dat file and use an inventory editor to remove the offending item.
That would be the ideal solution. I'll make a test world to see the item id now.
