I like John's character development but I dislike the retcon power more and more.
I feel bad for all the newbies. They're gonna be so confused.

Inspired by your version, I made my own, if you're curious.

Also, what do you mean by the web version colors newlines?
It will add the color tag over the newline so it will go from this:
Code: [Select]
{Textargablargle}
{Textargablargle}
to this (with {Textargablargle} properly colored):
Code: [Select]
{Textargablargle}[color=thing]
[/color]{Textargablargle}

All it does is add a few more characters, but when the character count is multiplied by just under 24 (because of spaces) by necessity, those few characters count.

As for your version, go ahead and post it! I'm interested to see the similarities and differences!

This looks like an awesome tool!
I'll try it out sometime tomorrow.

Also, it would be neat if you can demonstrate what happens when you set far to something in the OP.
Oh shoot! I had one in there, but I must have accidentally deleted it during my editing. I'll put it back in once it stops being 1:28am and I have access to my computer.

A while back, I was thinking about joining a forum game here, but felt too lazy to actually pick a text color. The conclusion I came to was that I should should write a set of Python functions to do it for me.

Fast forward a bit to me completing the program, an I am left with the thing I made this thread about.

Basically it is a set of functions designed to create a linear gradient between two (possibly randomized) RBG colors, and automatically color a given string letter by letter in BBCode, so it can be copy-pasted directly into the forums. In addition, it can have a bit of random noise added to the gradient, referenced as the variable 'far' in the code. I ended up writing a small code in Flask to let you guys (and myself) have a bit easier access and a far better ui, available here. The only problem is that the web version will color newlines. This doesn't happen in the python file though, so I basically have no clue what's going on.

Spoiler: Code (click to show/hide)

Dropbox of the file: ForumColorThing.py

Input:
Spoiler: Text (click to show/hide)
Color was left randomized, and far was equal to zero.
Output:
Spoiler: Text (click to show/hide)

:/ I suck at writing these.

Well, general rule of things is 'If you can eat it, it can kill you. You just need to eat use/be around enough of it.'

I lost the world, but a long time ago, I had a single dwarf that really caught my attention. He had the last name "Enjoywhip", and so I made a room for him, a rare commodity, and covered every tile not a bed or door with ropes. I hope he liked it.  :P
Not sure if that was the fort with the kids that were all legendary in all social skills. If so, many confused WTFs were had that day.

The yaoi is strong in this fandom (any fandom)

I find it a bit strange though that there is so much interest in Dirk's and Jake's wreck of a doomed relationship. Are those writers that invested in seeing gay people suffer?
I think it's more that it's canon and involves a Strider. The Striders are strangely popular with de fics and the fact that it's one of the few canon relationships just makes it a bit more popular. So yeah.
What about the Dave's Bro/Dirk's Bro ones?
Fiiiiine. There are [42] fics with that pairing.

To back up my reasoning on the guardians with math:
I omitted the guardians because that doubles the amount of characters I have to work with, which leaves me with... 120 pairings to do (or 136 with self-pairings). No. Hell no. Hell fucking no.

Dear god there are a lot of pairings. and sites. and fics.
(Why did I do this...)
You also forgot ancestors. You have dancestors, but not ancestors.
I left them out because I already had enough pairings on my plate and was short on time :/. I should find a way to automatically get the number per all the pairings, but eeh. Not doing that again for a while. Programming that is hell, IIRC.

EDIT: I finished the self-pairings up above BTW.

Not surprised. Not surprised at all. Actually, the only thing I'm surprised by is the lack of Dave/Dave fics. The only way to get up to 100% more Dave per Dave~!
I actually didn't search for self-pairings, because Google did not like it. I'll go search on AoOO manually and report back in a bit.

Also, AoOO's relationship tags were a godsend in this. Just saying.

A general reminder to the shippers: John and Roxy haven't known each other for even a full day. It would be a little rushed if stuff started happening.

Also: In the timeline where LOWAS exploded, the LOWAS John and Roxy are on is going to be placed there/are already there, and Timeline-Native (Not the one with John.) Roxy will probably be killed by a game construct (Likely Nix.), seeing as to the context her choice was made.

I have a feeling the timeline where LOWAS will end up will have already had the GrimBark-CrockerTier'ening happen, but Roxy would have been dead for months and John for three years.
Heh. As if that would stop them. :P

Speaking of shipping, I decided to search for different pairings and recording the number of things fics (too. many. pictures.) made about it in some way (just 'cause), and I think I'll post the human ones below.
*Puts on Shipping Science gloves.*

Not a good representation of the fanbase by any means, but it offers some interesting data as to the popularity of differing pairings, going by the assumption that, on average, a more popular pairing will have a larger number of fics written about it, just.
Huh. I'ma make a graph of this later.
Dear god there are a lot of pairings. and sites. and fics.

So today i finally managed to get my painty mojo on, and it was triggered by something as simple as a photo of a dog and a guy saying "he looks stoned".

this was a quick thing though so it's probably terrible

actually looks more like a bear in retrospect but hey
that is amazing

Just want to say that, after a bit more thinking, I think (and/or hope) that the Roxy in the John-less timeline is going to die somehow. Then, John and Roxy are going to retcon into the John-less session and replace the LoWaS that was destroyed in the denizen-explosion. Just a gut feeling though, so I'm probably wrong.

"I had hoped to repay the troubleand pain I caused earlier. Good to know I did not overstep my bounds. I think I'm going to go to the forest and start a... project. Thanks for the help."
Etszu accepts the growth pills (heh), if offered. He  then sets off to the forest, making two LW essences.
