I only say yes for the workshop and auto-update capabilities

...hang on, that sounds like pokemon.

SMT predates the first release of pokemon red/blue by 5 years, 9 if you count SMT's super-series Megami Tensei.
Unlike pokemon, with animal-like creatures and gym leaders with an elite 4+champion+(maybe a rival too) at the end, SMT features various mythological creatures, even extremely obsure ones, major gods as bosses, and a fight with the forces of YHVH or lucifer at the end depending on who you sided within in the game. before you try to simpify the games into good vs evil, alllow me to explain. It's more about law vs chaos, both are pushed to the extreme and neither are meant to be good options. Law wants the world to stop and people to be put in hugboxes/killed (depending on which game you're talking about). Chaos wants the world to be in a state of continous war and fighting, where only the strong can live. YHVH is not very nice in these games, in SMT1 he has japan nuked, and he generally seems rather insane, (not that Lucifer is any saner). You can take a neutral route, albeit it's usually rather hard to, and it often leads to you fighting BOTH final bosses.the series has alot of spin-offs, the most popular of which is persona, which is very, very different in terms of mood, gameplay, difficulty, and story to SMT

sorry for the over-explanation

Functionally impossible. You just can't do that.

Maybe when dfhack gets updated.

dang :/

how hard is t to make an adventure mode reaction to turn a unit into an item, while still preserving their stats, personality, companion status, and being able to then turn this item back into their unit form with another adventurer reaction?

if this is easy enough i might mess around with a shin Megami Tensei mod

I don't get crashes when placing civilizations. Instead it hangs for me, using up a CPU core.
same here, using linux version if that matters.

I downloaded the linux version but it freezes (or gets stuck somehow) during world creation. I tried making as small a world as possible, but regardless it always gets "stuck" when placing civilizations. Dunno.

can confirm this happening as well :/

i like that this game will be going for an unknown armies-ish magic. the power to change the world... for a price. no silly magic meters. keep regular weapons more readily available and viable.

seems like an adventurer mode topic. but it seems the issue is your pc's power. my game lags in adventure mode about once every 12-16 steps, but that's just it loading in new areas. ive never really heard much of ocean lag. usually lag is concentrated in areas with alot of items/ creatures ex. goblin encampments.

This is a great idea. update with progress once you start messing around.

all of my tree parts are black (roots/trunk/branches) tho that may be because I'm using the ascii version with grim fort ascii tile-set and the monster hunter mod.  :P

You would be a ridiculous priest known as "The Lighting Blade", and you would die in the hills of Greysky, assassinated in your sleep by bandits

Seems like I'd be a combat priest. Crusades anyone?
