Iran admitted the destruction of the Ukrainian plane was an accident.

Yeah, this is good place - there is also a discord server if you're into that - https://discord.gg/CvAEMWx (I'm not into that so I don't really know if it's any good.)

The wiki is also a good resource - http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2014:Adventurer_mode

The guy did have a point, in that random generation should not produce unwinnable situations.
Nobody would dispute that. But it only happens in poorly made and/or early RLs. Yet they are saying all RLs suck because some RLs do. To which I reply with Sturgeon's law.

I found an article criticising something I like (roguelikes). The article is very interesting, makes good and useful points, and is non-confrontational. (So a Bay12 flamewar?) This makes me happy.
That is an excellent article that makes valid criticisms.
And invalid criticisms.

Edit: Which they later go on to admit are invalid and complain about the way RL devs address the ones that are valid.

This is just another person complaining about something they don't like wanting it to change to suit them rather than allowing it to exist.

DF Suggestions / Re: Fortress Roundable feedback on 'The Centaur Problem'
« on: January 18, 2020, 02:47:26 pm »
What else is required? Lungs? Grasp? Stance?

Lungs bring to mind another question. What about parts from creatures that live in different environments? A creature that ends up with gills can't live on land. Fins are likewise problematic. If a part is from a fire immune creature does the whole gain that trait?

What about materials? Could you have a body made of bronze but head and limbs made of flesh? Does a bronze body have a heart? What does it pump?

Another question is size. Random or based on the size(s) of the creatures the parts are from? Based on the head, the stance, or an average?

It's not about centaurs specifically - it's about procedurally combining parts of creatures to create new ones. Centaurs are just a familiar example.

The real Another question is what happens if none of the parts have a brain or a heart.

You would think a campfire on ice would be a stupid thing, but it's fine. A fire next to ice, however:
Related Protip: Don't build a campfire next to a natural ice wall. It will melt, flow, put out the campfire, and encase you in ice as it refreezes. I know this from experience - I was returning to civilization after raiding a vault - which is also my answer to this thread.

Jumping at your opponent is the basis of the Kisat Dur Toradadom techniques.

Its main use is for making names for the procedurally generated things like people, groups, places, artifacts,  etc.

Uh, it would still be warhammer in english, just the in-game languages would have a random/procedural name. So instead of "alnis nil" in dwarven and "athama ˙eri" in elvish - which are both literally just "war hammer" - it'd be whatever the game assigned for the words "war" and "hammer". But, whatever it was called in the fictional in-game languages, the game UI would still call it "warhammer".

Is this question due to the bug Grimlocke describes here?

What about making everything internal except noses? Would that give the nose armor coverage but still allow an uncovered one to be bitten off? Would the eyes then not be able to be gouged out?

The wiki page even includes an "aren't that sharp" joke.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Underworld spires don't have vaults
« on: September 25, 2018, 05:39:51 pm »
Your character probably won't know about the vaults existence - until they do you can't ask for directions to it. The specific dialog option to get someone to mention a vault is "Ask about the surrounding area". Someone who is "well-traveled" seems to be more likely to know about vaults. Once they mention a site you can ask for directions to it and then check the quest log sites list to see more exactly what type of site it is. (They don't actually say the word "vault" just the name and something that happened there. You may or may not be able to tell from the event that the site is a vault.)
