Why one adventurer why not have a different adventurer for each player... the world is persistant you can have a lot more interaction that way.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Adventure Mode Little Questions Thread
« on: December 08, 2015, 01:16:47 am »
Two little questions (which I could answer myself if I wouldn't want to wait until a stable version is released):

1.
Is it now possible to become an enemy of an entity again if I kill someone who belongs to said group/civ?
Or does Legend mode still not track changes in relations towards other entities (a feature/bug introduced by 0.40)?

2.
Related to the first question and the vampire-accusing-bug:
Is it now possible to accuse vampires - and do they react (i.e. attack)?

Yes if you let people know you killed or they see it but sometimes it takes an in game week for the reputation to update (retiring and playing someone else or unretire get gives it enough time (the rumor takes time to spread)
Yes in fact like in. 34 the vamp usually gets ripped to shreds after it)

Unfortunately, no.
At least to answer 2.
The vampire-accusing-bug is still around, sadly.
Accusing one of being a night creature doesn't lead to carnage, as Lastta Topempire can confirm.
I accused him inside a human library full of scholars and all sorts of old scientists.
Neither of them cared, nor acknowledged that Lastta was a vampire.
And Lastta?
He didn't care either.
Searching in Legends I saw (again) that some random guy (who already was dead since some hundred years) was the one who accused Lastta. My name was nowhere to be found.

Not what I've been hearing.. (Or experienced, in this version) I guess sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

A lot of books don't end up in libraries, especially if they're written in the early years of the world. You're going to want to keep a copy of the save to be able to check legend mode to find out which hamlets and hillocks you're going to need to check out for a book tossed in the corner of some peasant's shack. I've got a modded game and it's ridiculous how many slabs containing secrets that drastically increase stats have been used as a coffee table for the past three hundred years.

haha so true.
Ive seen this.

cross posting from 42.02 adventure thread

In a hillocks I was in, killed the mayor and was then elected mayor :P
(sadly i was killed very shortly afterwards by this jerk "erol" (who I later assassinated with another adventurer... so i am not sure what being the mayor *actually* entails other then a cool title.

The deathangels are a group i created in that hillocks with another adventurer if you are curious.

I'm not picking a fight in a library, too many people targeting the same thing as I do has a nasty habit of freezing the game... plus, these motherfuckers are hardcore.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I didn't do anything there btw, they were just murdering each other when I got there. Fucking bodies raining down the ramps and slamming into ones below, people dodging the falling bodies and falling on other people, a rolling mass of tumbling barfing bleeding limbs and knives and books and sweat.

I love it so much.
That seems like a refreshing change from 40.24.

Yeah morale is alot better and peopel are more aggressive, also sieges pathfinding is fixed.

Not all copies, I've found originals, and I don't know what is up with people not finding mummies. As I said in another thread, doing a search in the gamelog.txt for my df40 folder, my Victorian mod folder, and my df42 folders:

df40 (17 mb): 3 instances of mummy
dfVictorian (40 mb): 11 instances of mummy
df42 (4 mb): 30 instances of mummy

That is taking into account that I'm really good at avoiding being seen and thus avoiding seeing them stand up/raise skeletons, only seeing them as footsteps/sense_creature_class tiles through the walls. There are a lot more than 30 times where I have escaped without seeing the mummy and ran off so it disappeared.

Is that intended btw? For them to vanish after they go too far from the tomb?

Mummies really don't show up at all. I literally walked over a mummy coffin and nothing happened.

But hey, free loot!

Im sure toady knows what hes talking about he is the progammer after all :P

Grab 20 soldiers by dancing at them.

you dont need to dance, you can still become just as famous as in 34.11

people need to remember that even if people say "it was inevitable" you still get the fame.

ugh,  tried playing as a sentient animal-man, for some reason i always die instantly, no matter what skills I have invested in. Either they're frailer than humans or dwarves, or they probably just spawn with weaker equipment. Either way, I gotta  practice a bit before I do an animal run.

Also, anyone figure out a way to see the relationships between you and others? I keep going to the log, but it doesnt tell me if I'm related  biologically or ancestrally to the farmer I spawned next to who i've "known my entire life."

They are usually MUCH MUCH smaller then their human counterparts and therefore easy to kill, for example according to the raws, adult rodent men are the size of a dwarven baby.
It is extremely tiny.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Finding a Titan
« on: December 07, 2015, 05:56:38 pm »
Go into villages ask around, once you get a name i suggest writing it down, because after you hear it you can just filter its name in your "Q"uest log with 'F'ilter text. Also ask for directions to where it is and its lair will show up on your map in (again) the "Q"uest Log.

Once you kill it you will most likely get a "it is terrific" from the first villager you tell if you dont, do not fear, for teh next time you talk to them they will still recognize you as a hero.
It will also be tracke din legends, and since titans are so major you will likely end up encountering statues of you killing the beast etc.

so uhh in a test to get my spider-lady/necromancer registered to a dwarf fort I found out the main reason the place is loaded with named citizen crundles.
some how during my fort mode build of the site there was a cave in underground. which I guess open up a bunch of cavern people and lead to some crundles to kill off drone ant people.
doing so lead to them getting famous and citizenship.
so now I got a single spider lady trying to join a fort that a bunch of crundles did before her.

That's a intriguing bug.
