My thinking on trapping a cloud was not about killing it.
Basically 2 things.
1 "IF" you can trap it, that would allow quicker safe time for surface activities. While locked up it "might" prevent other cloud spawns. Also "might" be on a timer and die trapped.
2 "IF" you can trap it, stands to reason you could then release it!! " ooh look, here come elves!!"

Could it be possible to trap the cloud inside a building?
Let it in then raise the bridge to lock it inside, or would it just teleport away?
Just thinking out loud....

Short answer : YES, they are that stupid.

Long answer : Their stupidity has no known bounds!
They appear to have an etherial link binding them to all our games, in some sort of communal race to see wich dwarf can do the stupidest act, at the precise moment to briefly hold the title of stupidest dwarf!! Until another supplants it, in someone else's game.

Theese boards are filled with their tales of stupidity, and occasionally ours.

I have read that they somehow sense you're underground tree felling, but never tested it.
Simple solution, wait till you get an agreement, then order some underground trees cut, then go check if they counted against you're quota.
Id just clearcut everything before they show, using mass forbid to get wich logs you want moved to piles.

Id suggest that you start chopping trees now, before the elves show up to limit it.
have 1 small wood stockpile with 3 wheelbarrows, logs will be brought to it as needed.
The logs laying around not in a stockpile don't seem to affect your fps, and by the time the elves limit you...you'll have 1000's !!!

I'm currently on 40.19 (not sure about LNP version).
My goal for Anvillocked is to reach 1000 adult dwarves.
Currently 510+ adults 120+ babes/kids.
  "IF" I have the *patience* (5~7 fps is getting old) "AND" my computer doesn't melt I'll gladly post a save ;)

I just moved so my computer is still in pieces (freshly cleaned ones :) ) so it'll be a while before real-life lets me play.......then a while longer to get to 1000...a game year takes 8+ hours soo yea,  a while!!!

 What kind of elf are you, paving you're map with wood?(what size btw)

Any dwarf knows the only uses for wood...beds,bins,barrels, CHARCOAL,ASH!!

I'm currently paving my 6*6 forested embark with granite.
Sadly my dream of charcoal stockpiles covering the granite road cannot be realized!!(didn't know nothing goes on roads!!)
I'm almost halfway done, and no fps increase!
but maybe that's because I have 500+ dwarves +100+ kids/ babes ;)

Wow, I think that was the most concise, yet detailed, instruction for doing anything in df I've ever seen!!! Awesome job! I shuold have no trouble getting anyting dumped from now on.

P.s. trees are being felled at a hellish rate, huge wood stockpiles are being (re)built.
Map is turning green from vomit :) block stockpiles preplaced are full. As soon as logs are hauled the paving will resume.
Duchess happiness now 201.3k down from alomost 209k.
Convicting/jailing vamp3 helped. As did her spinning 2 masterwork cloths.(dream realized).

Lesson learned: if you want to end agreement with elves, lockup the nobles so they can't meet.
just be prepared ;)

To be honest I've never dumped anything! No clue how its done.
The wiki keeps crashing my phones browser 2 weeks now, no idea why.
And wont dumping a jug dump it on the floor? Or do you mean dump the bin?

Another quick update.

After *very* close examination of my 6*6 map (oh the pain) I can grow cotton!
New 5*5 plots (8) are being biult, and since I've got about 10k pigtail/ hemp cloth those feilds will lie fallow, and ill just produce cotton. ;)

The hempseed oil problem isn't solved, will try removing the *large* finished goods stockpile the bins holding the jugs are in, I can't think of another way to get em moved.

I convicted vamp3 of 2 old murders, stationed the axe squad near his room, unlocked his door and before he made it 20 steps, the hammerer hauled him to jail :)
50 hammerings(not done cuz of a cell) 250 jail days. Cell door locked. Problem solved.

Duchess is better, but bad thoughts are only no one to yell at/cry on.
a hidden bonus of her unhappiness?
I now have NO AGREEMENT WITH THE ELVES!!!! As long as she doesn't meet with them ;)
Finally those Armok cursed trees will fall like rain!!! The paving of my 6*6 forested embark will recommence!! (Insert happy dance here)

Hidden bad news...she wont meet with ANYONE dwarfs too.
Leather stocks ZERO.
All animals slaughtered years ago, planning on rotating leather/yarn with mountainhome. OOPS.
Time to redo workflow settings, military will do without cloaks/hoods for a bit.

Just a note about immigration.
I'm on my 2nd attempt at a 1000 dwarf fort. I had to retire my 1st attempt because a low child cap broke immagrant wave sizes, retired with 120 military.

New fort, I started getting immigrants with their nicknames m.a, m.x., m.s,m.h.
All the m.x. ( crossbow squads) had brought their *steel crossbow* with them!!
A few m.a (axe squads) brought their *steel axe*!!!!
Seems all axe had woodcutter skill. All crossbow had hunter.
NONE brought armor, but eh...free masterworks are always good, not to mention +5 archers/axemen. ;)

Ok, here's an update, and some questions at the end.
I built a quern in her room and a screwpress, the proper stockpiles. I Finally got some hempseed oil!!! Yay success!!!! Z stocksmenu zoom to....finished goods stockpile!!?? ANDthe jugs are in bins! That stockpile doesn't even accept food! Friggin great.
Made a loom, clothiershop out of her favorite wood, she doesn't care. Cotton thread,cloth only stockpiles.empty. ALL other stockpiles don't accept any cotton thread/cloth. Yet someones making it!!
I took a risk, made a captain of the guard. 60 dwarfs got beat! Even the CMD got his hand smashed.( I missed that line"have restraints ready BEFORE appointing a Captian of the giard" :)
She's still mad, 1 escaped justice 1 of my 3 vamps.

Ok now the questions

How do I get the jugs with hempseed oil out of the pile they're in? I have disabled "other large. tools" and enabled that beside her kithen. No go.

Kinda same about cotton thread/cloth. No pile in the fort accepts it, but hers. Still empty.

If I convict "vamp3" of 3 or 4 murders( no witnesses) without a hammerer, will he get beat OR jail? I have to open his door, he's hungry, will he go feed before being taken to jail?
Can he escape if jailed/ chained?

What stress level is tantrum time?
Therapist is showing 208.7 thousand. Shes "on friendly terms" with over half the fort!! (Adult pop. Now 506!!) So things could get nasty quick with 96 kids 16 babes.

Thanks for any help out of this.

To bad its the duchess who's all pissy.
Figures out of almost 500 dwarfs, the ONE that can screw this fort does!!
I saw 1 in yellow and thought...well its 1 dwarf, I don't care, ill check WHO if they go red...even then its just 1 right? Ill b ok!
Now paving my forested embark is on hold, AND if she flips out verybad things will happen! Was planing on a war with the hippies anyway.
ill lock her in with food and drink and see how it goes.
