Well if you're talking about the health system it's not just 1 country using a single payer system, it's a lot of different countries. Bit of a stretch to say it wouldn't work for American, unless your talking about "it wont work because of the political attitudes in America".

My 1st computer was an XT (a 286? I think). So it was basically text games like the hobbit then rogue-likes, I remember playing nethack to death. The 1st graphical games I played were stuff like the sierra games: SpaceQuest I & KingsQuest 1 etv. All in CGA (4 colour). The jump in the standard of graphics in around 30-ish years is pretty amazing to me.

Edit: Now that I think about it the 1st 286 might of been the AT range, so it was probably not.

Yep. '77. I did grow up with a computer in the house, copped a lot of crap about being a nerd because of it. It's kind of amusing that all the cool kids all have computers these days. Mobiles became common round here about the 90s I think? Internet a bit later. It was around of course before then, just not a common thing.

Has Trump been impeached for violations of the emoluments clause yet?

yes. Just the other week. The guy in the white house isn't the real Trump, that's robot replacement Trump.

Had a fair few more choices if you count the primaries. Pretending anyone but Hillary would of beat Trump, I mean how many were there again in the Republican Primary? He was voted in over a fair few other options.

Are they though? I've always noticed the people complaining the most about being silenced always tend me be some of the loudest in society.

Pretty much agree with MetalSlimeHunt on this. Considering the size of America & the left-right polarization, I mean I know a fair few people just as nutbag extreme in a country a fraction of the size. Multiply that how many times. & I'm not convinced this is even close to as big a culture clash as you guys had in the 60s, people are just more bored, internet is faster, skin-heads & the dumber end of the left wing brawl in many places. Not good, but not exactly something new.

General Discussion / Re: Limited Suffrage: Should Voting be a Right?

I don't really have a problem with felons losing their vote though, though I think they should regain it after some amount of years after their sentence is up (say 2-5). That way the majority who commit one crime and then does not repeat it regains their ability, while the career criminals are kept out of the system. Stop that I think there should be an ability to keep people with links to organised crime out of the system permanently (especially in places like the US where offices like Police Chief and Judges and what not is up for vote), and that corruption sentences should have similar consequences.

Oh, and lobbying should be a felony :P

Plenty of places that have had ex-cons not only voting but also in major positions of power. Nelson Mandela being the most obvious example. It's pretty hard to get elected in a major role without people being aware of a history that includes gaol time. I don't see much of a compelling reason to keep felons out of the political system & it would certainly be odd to allow someone to hold a position but not to vote.

I'd take the idea of intervention in Syria a lot more serious if anyone seemed to have a plan on what to do after Assad had been taken down. None of the people saying we must do something have actually mentioned what happens next.

But funny thing is the pharmacist was terrified of this drug! like she made it pretty clear that this thing will melt your flesh off :P

So the orders my dermatologist gave and the pharmacist gave were at odds with another.

Well it'll probably prevent any itching once it's burnt away all the nerves...

And yeah, I read somewhere of him saying that allies owe vast sums to NATO. It seems to be more of pandering to his base, even though it appears like backstabbing Merkel after meeting with her.
Pretty sure he was saying this kind of stuff back before he even ran for office? I don't remember it coming up during he's actual campaign, though I might of missed it in amongst the mass of other nonsense. I was wondering if/when it'd rear it's ugly head again.

I wouldn't say terribly so much as repetitive. He pretty much wrote 1 story well then repeated the same schtick over & over again. It's why my favourites are always the few stories that break the basic mould.

Stephen King is about 1% horror,  99% small American town soap opera.
This is controversial? I'm pretty sure he'd agree with you.

well it's not really, was more following up on what Max was saying above.
