DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: 2x2 fortess size, is this valid?
« on: November 13, 2014, 12:20:05 pm »
Is there somebody who tried bigger embarks? Like 8x8 or even 16x16.

I've done 16x16 embarks. They are a lot of fun, and in .34.xx it was hilarious because I would get a message stating that a siege had come and it would take them minutes to get to my fort entrance, but by that time I had the whole fort on lockdown.

DF General Discussion / No More Goblin Death Worlds
« on: November 13, 2014, 11:17:36 am »
I, for one, am very happy that our goblin overlords are finally gone. I've gotten tired of the stale goblin sieges. Time for some human, dorf, and hippy sieges.

Kill one, maim the other. Feast on the flesh of the dead. Toy with the other one a bit before finally killing it.

Hands and feet? You can manage a decent enough pace while horizontal and facing upwards. It's just kinda' painful and definitely awkward. If it was just feet, that's still possible, but it graduates from kinda' painful to vaguely agonizing.
I would argue that to lay down your back has to be touching the floor, so using hands and feet is still impressive.
Yeh. This guy gets it.

Personally I imagined a guy lying on his back and somehow making "normal standing upright" walking motions with his legs and somehow getting somewhere.

That's actually how he did it.

A guy at the college I attend was walking while laying down. I have no words.

General Discussion / Re: Christian beliefs and discussion
« on: November 06, 2014, 12:14:26 pm »
Well, this is my first post in this thread so I might as well make a small introduction to my religious self for those of you that already know me as well as give what demonination of Christianity and what they follow/operate under.

I am StupidElves, and I am a Methodist. Which are kinda really liberal Christians. From my experience, we do not condemn those of different faiths/those with no faith, we accept everyone and we don't pressure people to join.

Part of what makes up the Methodist doctrine is the belief in the Holy Trinity, and that is that there are three aspects to God. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. The Son is obvious, Jesus. The Father is the loving aspect of God as seen in the New Testament, and the Holy Spirit is what's in the Old Testament. The idea of the Holy Trinity is that God is these three separate entities, and one being all at the same time.

DF General Discussion / Re: Blood Eagle
« on: November 05, 2014, 03:55:22 pm »
hmm maybe this was posted already, but I was under the impression blood eagles were actually where the ribs were hacked off at the spine and pulled out the back to flare out like wings, with the lungs hanging freely.

This is how I did it when I did one in a MUD I played to another player.

I feel like I learned something valuable.

As for potential torture, what about torture of enemies, OR scientific experiments on non-sentient creatures?

Why would you want to do that? They can't do anything useful if tortured.

Am I the only person that would prefer them as just simple creatures that run around, grow old, and die? Things that can be hunted and tamed like every other animal?

I thought this was going to be eagles made of blood.
That can be arranged.  And would be hilarious.

Can we perform the Blood Eagle on an eagle made of blood?

Anyone else thinking of starting at the earliest, using observe until the latest, and then exporting it to EU4 to observe some more and see what kind of messed up world comes out?

Men have nipples due to them being an organ that didn't gain function caused by the lack of estrogen and the addition of testosterone during the stage of life that adds in secondary sexual characteristics known as puberty. Also, I don't like you, Big Brother. Only I can watch everyone.

One day there will be game mechanics for torture, and there will be infinite options for speaking. And on that day, my research will be appreciated.

Saying that while dressed as a certain demonic force from Gravity Falls does not instill my confidence. Well, at least not in my backyard shotgun.

Quote pyramids, ugh.

What can I say? I know lots of things.

DF Suggestions / Volcano Eruptions
« on: October 28, 2014, 07:35:51 pm »
Volcanoes should be able to erupt in world gen, and in Fortress Mode + Adventure Mode. Also, the eruptions should have some lasting effect on the world. Like if a super volcano similar to the one under Yellow Stone were to erupt, the world would be effected in the same way as our actual world. Changes in climate, ash blanketing the ground for a long ways away, possibly a miniature ice age happening due to the amount of ash in the air. Etc, etc.

What do you all think?
