We'll order cherry pie and sweet rolls, and ask "What on earth is it this time? Did the followers of Hermaus Mora catch wind of something or another that your grandfather did, or someting similar to that?"

"Before you start,"
"Now why did you have to go and-"
"BEFORE. YOU. START. It was not my fault. Someone put a wall in my way."

"If this is about the Dwemmer Centurian, I swear. I didn't think that a filled black soul gem would let the mass murdering bandit chief control the thing."

Really, I think that this is partly due to my personality, but I tend to not care how long it takes for a game to come out, so long as it comes out and turns out well. Like, I get it that backers want it to come out, but they reached the stretch goals. The stretch goals kinda added to the workflow, and that causes more delays. So, ya know, just sit back and relax and wait on this to come out. It'll happen, sooner or later. Preferably the one which includes it being playable.

"Is it about the sweetrolls?"

"No, smartass. You're being released. Someone's paid your fine. Now, come with me and we'll get your things." He unlocks the cell door and opens it.
We hum a merry toon as we follow him and wish the guard good luck with his failing love life.
Do we know anybody who would pay our fine? We don't think we know anybody who would pay our fine.

We follow along with interest. This should be good.

So, this might be a pet peeve, or just a complaint in general.

I have yet to find a game other than DF where playing a necromancer makes you feel powerful. I mean, you're supposed to be a necromancer, having an army of undead guys that go forth and kill everything in their path. Path of Exile didn't do that very well, Skyrim is just like "lol nope. You need to reach level 100 to have two zombies with you."

Like, I just want to play a game where necromancers are treated as being amazing, and not as heavily hindered.

What made me happy today is that fact that I finally got the reference to the title of the thread.

Undertale, what madness have you wrought?

Shouldn't it still work? I don't think anything happened to the entity raws other than base humans being randomized now

nope, other stuff

Oh, well. Thanks for that.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?
« on: December 02, 2015, 08:36:13 am »
My first experience with animal people wasn't much different than earlier versions. I noticed the wolverine people show up on the map, but I was too busy getting my well built to pay much attention. A while later I checked the combat log. My guard dog chewed one of them up and put some hurt on others. Makes me wonder, will be able to "domesticate" (civilize?) the animal people who just wander onto the map in groups or do we have to wait for already civilized (maybe that's better, but it sort of smacks of colonialism) animal people to arrive and join our fort?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Colonialism what DF is all about? Going forth, taming the untamed wilds, bending nature to fit the will of the outpost, and then subjugating every race under your iron fisted rule that doesn't join you willingly and all that jazz.

I do wonder how can you create an infinite loop during AI development. From what I know, most common AI architectures (like rule-based systems or neural networks) don't really have any points where it can loop indefinitely. What kind of AI system is he using?

EDIT: Looked it up. And, uh...
Quote
A bit more detail because I think itīs interesting: Aparently the AI now tries to figure out what other parties in the world now will try to do to anticipate it and act in accordance to that. To do that the AI of one party has to "ask" the other AI what it will do, which then starts considering itīs actions and in return ask the first AI what they will do, causing an infinite loop which crashes the game. I would post more but I am not sure if what infos are allowed outside the backers forum. I will ask the mods if we can share more infos.
Yeah, I don't see any way to get rid of infinite loops without reworking this whole "AI asking other AIs" part.

Replace it with AIs having some predictive estimates on other's behaviours based on their previous interactions, and then it'll work. For additional bonus points, it would also work for AI prediction player's behaviour and adapting accordingly.
