DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Lead floors or menacing spikes?
« on: May 07, 2015, 01:48:14 pm »
I had a natural chasm that was 40z levels deep leading into the caverns in my recent fort, and have adopted that as "The Pit of Dubious Justice".

I think the floors are dolomite, but I'm not sure. I've thrown both a troll and a human werecreature down there and oddly enough not only do they explode horribly, but each time their neck has somehow ended up as a separate gib.

I've seen severed heads before, but never a neck somehow on it's own, cleaved from the corpse by a blunt floor :o

The neck is the severed head - since the neck is the part connecting it to the body, the game counts the head as part of the neck.

does anybody know of a in reaction method(if not a dfhack script maybe) to fix glove_items made by custom reactions, so that they have a left and right "handedness" ? (not sure if thats a word, but you kow what i mean right...)

There's a DFHack script - fix-handedness.rb, I believe it's called - but no way without DFHack.

DF Modding / Re: Isometric tileset

Type uhhh, is it ? or / for the keys?

Either works. I think Stonesense just ignores the shift key, so it reads them as equivalent.

I just had an idea recently, would it be possible to make a tileset that would look isometric?

Not an ordinary tileset, no.

Also, does Stonesense work with the current version do DF?

Yes.

Hello modders here.
Is there possible to make custom quiver to contain specific kind of ammo?

Unfortunately not, as quivers are hardcoded.

Ooh, nice. PTW.

ENTITY:PLAINS is the human civilization. You need to put it under ENTITY:MOUNTAIN for it to be available to dwarves.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: A question on blocks
« on: April 30, 2015, 01:28:51 pm »
@aiseant not stones really but you can make blocks from wood as well. I think multiplying your supply of wood would be beneficial on a low wood map but hey I'm just a noob here.

Wood doesn't multiply when turned into blocks - one log, one block.

DF Modding / Re: Modding nobles?
« on: April 30, 2015, 08:55:59 am »
It's important to note that you can't really add nobles that do new things. Mostly you'll just be able to make nobles with new names, demands, requirements, and combinations of jobs. So you can make a combination bookkeeper, manager, chief medical dwarf, but you can't make a noble that does anything the vanilla ones don't.

I'm vaguely curious if anyone has managed to implement an immigrating noble like the king. Noble tokens are notoriously tricky to get right though :(.

I think the royal immigration behavior is controlled by being a civ-wide position with the lawmaking responsibility, but don't quote me on that.

DF General Discussion / Re: It's dwarven instinct...

Dwarves are capable of walking and talking at the age of 1.

They are not capable of having their own children at that age, though, so "I talked to my child." doesn't make sense.

DF Modding / Re: How do secrets work
« on: April 29, 2015, 04:57:29 pm »
Secrets are a type of interaction, so the wiki information is at the interaction token page. There's an example secret in raw/interaction examples/interaction_secret.txt, as well.
