That doesnt tell me how to become one.

Oh, sorry, I misread your original question (I thought you were asking how to find the monarch). I don't think it's possible to become the monarch in-game (bar DFHack).

Fill the caverns to the brim with magma, and then with water. It'll make your FPS even worse during the process, but once it's done you'll have a giant cavern-shaped obsidian "vein" and no obnoxious undead.

  well, if there is no parthenogenesis, then wouldnt the race be rejected and not spawn at all if it has no male caste? because the race has been generated and i have been playing it and not seeing any males so far, not ingame, not in legends.

Check their introductory paragraphs in Legends - my guess is they're all "one of the only ones of her kind", meaning they were created at the beginning of time but can never reproduce.

How do you sell and buy things with currency? It always says "Not trading currency" at the bottom of the trade screen, and when I try to ask for/offer currency, it acts as though both the shopkeeper and I have none:

...even though we both do. The coins are from the same civilization, so that's not the problem (in fact, I got them from this same shopkeeper).

A fort of mine had a king with a population of 16
if I remember corectlly
it was a low ass number to get a king.

If your civ is dead or dying, one of your dwarves will claim the throne.

Do towers specifically require animated dead to construct? If you have a secret that raises corpses into entities without the [NOT_LIVING] token, possibly with a [CE_BODY_TRANSFORMATION] thrown in, will it still amass an army and build towers?

Because there are certain things I could do if that's the case.

An ailuromancer built a tower, so it seems like it works.

EDIT: I just went to the ailuromancer tower in advmode, and I should note that the cats there are being referred to as "Cat Corpse"s, which may end up feeling a little weird depending on what it is you're trying to do.

Aside from SELF_ONLY and SELF_ALLOWED, those aren't targeting tags, but usage hints. Put them in the CAN_DO_INTERACTION as [CDI:USAGE_HINT:GREETING], etc., not within the interaction itself as an independent tag.

This is a stupidly minor point, but I think you should spell kryochalcum "cryochalcum", for consistency in how kappa is romanized.
