I want to play my fortress created in Windows version of the game on Mac.

So I created "data/save" directory in the directory of the freshly installed Mac version and copied "data/save/region1" to the "data/save" directory of that Mac package.

As a result, I don't see "Continue Game" button in the main menu.

What's wrong?

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Military dwarves sleep on the floor

i think we would need to see his stats.... which might be hard?  Is the quick to tire?
Well, it's not only him, it's about all dwarves assigned to training. So I don't think that the problem is in their stats.

How to restrict a dyer from dyeing adamantine strands?

It seems that resulting adamantine wafers will have the same color and value regardless of what dyer did with the strands so I don't want to waste his time on this useless job.

Also they don't drink nor eat in the tavern and prefer to do it from barrels directly.

Why do my military dwarves sleep on the floor instead of their bedrooms?

They train all year but I thought that they should go to the personal bedrooms anyway.

DF Gameplay Questions / Dwarf doesn't claim a room
« on: May 21, 2016, 01:27:51 am »
Why does my hunter not claim his own bedroom?

He spent about 5 years in a fortress and he's the only one who doesn't claim a room.

He don't have an assigned burrow and he's definitely not a vampire (because he's from the starting squad).

What's wrong with him then?

Suffocated? What does it mean?

Sounds like alcohol, perhaps?
But there was no vomit around them.

Old age deaths happens on the turn of the year (all at the same time). There's a DFHack command ("deathcause" or something like that) that might give an indication.
Is DFHack available for 0.43.01?

There is no vomit around their corpses so I don't think that it's an alcohol poisoning either.

DF Gameplay Questions / Strange accidents in public places
« on: May 20, 2016, 02:48:18 am »
I had two strange cases in my fortress recently.

The first one is a dead military dwarf inside the training room. There are no combat reports and his health was good enough to live a long life.

The second one just happened. My dwarves found two corpses inside a tavern -- tavern keeper and goblin guest.

There are no combat reports and it seems that I don't have a vampire in my fortress because the only citizens that don't have a bedroom are the dwarf from the starting squad and a child (according to the Wiki, they can't be vampires).

There are no information about these cases in the "Justice" menu either.

What can it be?

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Cave adaptation and raw glass roof

Ok, thanks guys.

I suppose there's no way to change tile's type from inside to outside, right?

Tiles that are Inside Light neither add to nor subtract from the cave adaption counter. That means your glass-roofed area would prevent your dwarves from getting any further cave adapted while they were in the lit area, but would do nothing to reduce their existing cave adaption, and allow a consistent build-up while those dwarves are elsewhere in your fortress. Spending time in an Outside tile is the only way to reduce the cave adaption counter (short of dfhack manipulation).
Are you sure?
