Alright, I think the poll's been up long enough. Aaaaand...Future and Industrial tie. Putting up a new vote with Future, Industrial, and Mixed (the Mixed would be like a futuristic main continent and unmet "primitive" industrial and pre-modern nations).

If Industrial wins but enough people vote Future, I'll consider making it Steampunk.

Added a new steampunk option, but it counts TOWARDS industrial.

What sort of sheet would you expect for a business? (Or should I clone the organisation sheet someone made up?)

As much or little information as you want to put on it; as a business, your starting province and shares will be randomized, but I advise that you put atleast what the business specializes in, important shareholders (NPC characters, or if it's 100% controlled by you or your family), etc. Things that'd be important in real life, and how the business might be seen by other businesses do to past actions (did it aggressively consume nearby business? Sweat shops overseas? Did it advance the technology of humankind only to patent it and hold it over the heads of its competitors? That sort of thing).

I think the game will be a wash without more nations to be frank :/

I actually intended it without a bunch of nations, but it can be managed with as many as people want. Keep in mind there will be NPC nations, but they will be less dynamic than PC ones.

PS: if the poll ends as it is now, I might have more advanced regions and less advanced regions that may be taken advantage of.

-snip-

So...Anraya IS on a continent with Equestria? Kinda hard to tell since the map has pink + yellow while the text is red + light brown.

Tropico may be an international dick, but they're OUR international dick. on OUR continent.

(( Wait wait wait, I thought Anraya was on a continent with Equestria and Tropico was on a continent with Djibouti. Who's where, exactly? ))

Sure, that'd be fine.

Aw, no non-humans then?

There could potentially be other species, but I'd prefer for the time being to remain human-only. There's simply too many untested factors right now, and attempting to simply pile on more features could create a mess.

I was basically asking about magic.

Conspiracy cults with more than mumbo jumbo and lunatics are fun, after all.

Potentially. If there IS magic, it is likely very weak - until it is developed, of course. I'd prefer if, at the start, we not all try to develop magic simultaneously (and that no one start as a "mage guild"). Like I said previously, there are simply too many untested factors to consider already.

Tropico & Equestria: In order to prevent piracy on Anrayan convoys, we are refraining from sending out any oil exports overseas. This unfortunately means that we cannot sell any of it to Tropico; if this means we can't sell any oil to anyone, this is an unfortunate consequence of Djibouti's aggression. Anraya is, however, interested in the deal Tropico offered, and are willing to participate in their deal with the Equestrians; if your two countries can come to an agreement regarding the contract's cancellation, Anraya will export a minimum of 50% of its oil at standard rates (liable to change based on market price, but immune to artificial price raises by Anraya for political strong-arming) to Equestria for the remainder of the contract's duration. Of course, it is more likely that Anraya will simply export all of its oil to Equestria through the border (if the contract is absolved by Tropico), in order to avoid piracy.

BTW, I'm Ready for the next turn (my actions are the bold chunk in the post following the turn; note that the subsidies are to be primarily funded by the tax on non-cooperating industries, though any extra funds needed for the green energy push is to be provided for by the government, up to $10 this cycle).

I have a question.

What level of realism are we using?

I'm not quite sure what you mean what level of "realism". It's semi-realistic, meaning systems are similar to what we might see in any possible human society. There will be some variations, of course; technology growth is increased, everything is simplified to make it manageable, but other than that it's meant to model human populations.

Alright, and for starting, what numbers for those modifiers would be appropriate?

Most provinces will be around 1.00, to a soft cap of 2.00 (like, 90% will be 0.75 to 1.25. Manpower is always 1.00 without special modifiers).

I mean the economy/manpower/industry modifiers, sorry.

A better economy allows you more flexibility regarding your realm, as well as an easy way to pay off mercenaries and other nations.
Industry allows you more production; if you plan on producing a bunch of well-armed units or setting massive work projects (think New Deal) in motion, you'll need it.
Manpower is almost only used for units, and is only necessary if you plan on fielding a large army.

All will be used no matter the era; different Province Stats may come into play, but these three will probably stay consistent.

Hmm, is there any recommendation to the modifiers for the provinces, just as a general guideline, and will those be applicable regardless of the era chosen to play in?
Modifiers come more into play with map-specific stuff (Center of Trade, +economy), Empire-specific stuff (Draft, +Manpower), and stuff gotten through events (Industrial Boom: +economy, +production, -manpower). The province sheet is more to give you an example to help outline what everything does and allow you to choose what kind of province you prefer to start with, but is not a requirement and may hold little impact on your starting province. If, for example, you have a trait you want the province to have for roleplay reasons, such as a large criminal underbelly, feel free to jot it down.

question. If you make a province, do you have to make a chracter?

Yes.

Think of it this way: this is a character roleplay. However, players who choose to take on more of a "government" role will be more focused on roleplaying on a province-level than a character-level.

PS: feel free to make a province sheet (those who are making provinces), but keep in mind that I'll probably change many of the stats around.

Apologies, as I thought this game was different, (setting wise), I am not one who enjoys these type of games in a modern day setting, and will be removing my sheet.
I have removed myself. If anything changes, I may come back.

Eh, to  be honest the timer period doesn't really matter very much. I'll put up a poll.

I am sure our diplomat will agree to compensate the supporting nation with oil.

Anraya's Government are in agreement on this matter. We will form a special trade agreement for inexpensive or free oil if either nation agrees to cooperate with Anraya's general.

((Scan, really, was the intent, but he's made of inanimate objects.))
(( The problem is he's nonmagical; if he was magic, you'd be able to sense it and use it to your advantage. The ability is primarily for magic-related objects, however. ))
