DF Gameplay Questions / Werebeast Bite Victims not transforming?

I have two dwarves who were bitten by a werebeast before it was purged so I put them into a "Death Row" squad and stationed them underground somewhere so that when they transform they must come down a narrow hallway where my marksdwarves can put them down. The problem is that they're not transforming! I checked the wiki for when the full moon dates and two of those dates have already gone by without any transformations whatsoever. Are they actually clean now?

2. At the moment I'm playing with the idea of having minimal traps (cages allowed, because they're fun) and just using a small core of professionals backed up by a horde of conscripts, Soviet Russia style. Those traps are interesting, though. Maybe I will give them a go on the next fort.

Almost every time I embark, all I get is silver ore, and maybe some gold, too, but everyone knows that iron is best! I set the mineral settings to frequent on world-gen, so is that related to the problem or am I just unlucky?

Is it possible to change an animal's orientation? I'm sick of bringing along dogs only to have the only male be asexual or homosexual.

I'm planning to pit enemies (and nobles probably) straight into a glass-walled area in the Children's Creche for the trauma component of their training. Will this work?

Thread is interesting but I really don't want to read through 37 pages of this, however hilarious and sadistic it is, so I have a question: what are the facilities that my Children's Creche should have? I already read about dorms, mist generators and a food stockpile, but what else? Should I spikes or live animals for training? What is the best way to train tragedy resistance?

Only the cleansing properties of magma can resolve this three-way strugggle between dwarf, undead and abomination. You should totally build an entire shrine to the lever that controls the floodgates and surround it with guards and bridges.

Well, I dunno. If there was a war going on in my front garden, I'd sure as hell leg it towards the nearest settlement, even if they were dwarves. Having an option to provide sanctum for a short while (2 seasons - 1 year?) would be fine for me.

In medieval times, families were (generally) more tight-knit than today, so I don't really have a problem with set relationships like that.

Sometimes, but when normal migrants arrive you usually groan and continue with what you were doing. Having specific events like this would help integrate your fortress with the outside so you might actually care a little about what's going on in the rest of the world.
