DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Vampires, they make me think . . .
« on: July 09, 2015, 08:21:30 pm »
So here I am, rulling over my fledgling fortress when a group of migrants arrive and after looking over there military skills (which most of my soldiers were felled on a goblin invasion a season earlier) I found one with about 150 kills to her name, all of which were dwarves, humans, elves and goblins (but especially humans). After further investigation I have found this dwarf to be a vampire!

I have a room for all those who are were beasts or vampires, a room I close behind the creature, never to allow them out until death takes it toll. I did some thinking however. I might be wasting these monsters which may be put to use. I am considering making a small room outside the fortress, which can only open via a bridge of which is to be operated from a lever inside the fortress. I will put her inside with a full set of steel armor and a sword to keep her company. She will also be conscripted into her own special squad. When another siege is upon me, I plan to wake her, tell her to put on her "Sunday dress", close my gates and unleash her onto them.

A few questions arise. Tales of vampires say they are immortal, but feed on blood like a bearded dwarf feeds on a fine ale. Now does this mean without blood she will die? I am hoping the more time she is locked away the more this wench will thirst for blood. This has also given me an idea for what I would like to call a "Dwarven Petting Zoo", where as all foul and/or fierce creatures I capture or have shall be lined on a road, just outside my gates, inside of small rooms closed off via bridges. I want at least one wall facing the road to my fortress to be a grate or anything similar that can keep these beasts held while letting all those who pass by outside both see and hear them shriek, bellow and yell. I want word to spread to every inhabited part that laying siege to my fortress is a rather terrifying idea.

On one side I want all the creatures that will just as likely chew the faces off of my dwarves as they would my opposition to locked up and on the other all my larger war beasts, such as tigers, jaguars, bears, ect (I shall be also locking them in with the same specials as to encourage breeding).

There will be 5 levers inside the fortress for this part. The first two will control the bridges locking away these beasts, one for each side. The 3rd will close a bridge on one side and another lever will close a bridge on the other, trapping my enemy within the walls. Those ladder two will be the first in use. I will proceed by asking them if they "want to play a game?" I will then unleash my war pets onto these poor fools. If they survive, thats great, as I they move onto round 2, the more voracious, beasts.

Now, if they get killed by these beasts, I do not want to lose them, they are too valuable to me. So as it is, they too are trapped inside this hell hall. I will then pull the fifth lever, which will reveal a another hall, full of cage traps and at the end of this, encouragement (perhaps a kitten on string).

Thoughts on this, ideas you have for the vampire or your own interesting experiences with vampires.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Dice-Scape 2.0 (Now with multiplayer)
« on: July 03, 2015, 02:33:37 pm »
Hello and welcome to the game where dice not decide your fate, but shape the events and the world around you. I may be able to describe it to you, but ultimately only the dice know the future and keep it even from me. Allow me to introduce you to:

Dice-Scape

This is a much updated version of my previous single player game I had on here.

Updates since last game:

Future updates
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I am not going to go into detail of exactly how every mechanic works on this topic, but if you wish to know, this is still relevant: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=151515.0

This game is going to have a background story unlike my previous one:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Now, keep in mind I will not randomly give anyone who actively plays Mind Pox. This is for those who stop playing for too long, and I get bored taking over their character, or to kull the population if there is too many. But, the rest of you wont get a warning when it happens, so be on your toes! Oh and please dont take offensive if I do this to your character. Its to keep the campaign healthy and moving along while giving the game an element of uncertainty. If you come back, you are free to make a new one. Oh ya, no metagaming.

If I feel you havent responded in enough time and others are active, I will take over until you return, but ya, sooner or later Mind Pox will set in. This wont happen for at least a few days real time, and sending me a message letting me know you are not going be active for a time will stave it off for longer.

Now then, for the sign up. I am looking for at least three active players to start out with. The more the merrier. You will need the following:

Here are the races to choose from (Dont worry about the numbers, I will do those later):

If there is any mistakes in the above races or classes, let me know, I have been adjusting them a lot, and its very possible I over looked something.

Drink magma and then throw bear at it... Wait a second.

Hmm, Magma-brewed-beer.

20
Made some changes to the first post. Anyone can join in as the character at any time, so feel free to do so. Not enough activity lately.

21
By Snorks do you mean the ones from Stalker?

I meat the underwater ones. I wasn't aware there were any others. I will clarify that.

22
Hello and one and all, short and tall to:

How would dwarven civilization react to ___?

Where we look at our dwarfy selves and ask profound questions. I will give a list of mostly fictional people from human media and ask you guys how you think dwarves would think, do, and interact upon the discovery of these. You can do it in any way you wish. Maybe you want to treat as a journal entry, or as an engraving. I am curious as to what you guys come up with. I prefer humor by the way. Oh and also feel free to suggest anything to add to the list below:

Smurfs
Snorks (the underwater ones)
Care Bears
Ewoks
Jedi

23
Take a peek at the garden.

In this garden is 3 Brewing thistles and 4 Sunken Sweet Wart choked by weeds around them you can try to harvest.

24
Take the weapons.

((Do we know what that was? Was someone controlling it?))

((Neither you or me know what, if anything controlled that. The dice has not revealed that info yet. Also I will add the items into your inventory momentarily as well as their stats. Its worth looking them over once done.))

You grab the weapons and neatly place them in your pack ((yes you have a pack, but it doesn't affect you in any way)) and proceed forward back to the town. You travel at a good pace for well over an hour and see to your left what appears to be an intact abandoned garden.

25
Fight until one of us is dead.

((I was just going to ask you that))

You regain your balance and stab the puppet but the blow deflects off some of its stone. The puppet slashes at you in return but your cloak is sturdy enough to absorb the damage. It becomes apparent that this battle will not be short.

You strike back at the puppet and sever one of its bladed fingers. The puppet rushes you and knocks you off your feet, but no damage is done otherwise. You quickly roll out of the way while making a slash in the same moment. You tear off one of the strings at its heal, making the puppet unable to use its right foot. The puppet tries to kick you with said foot but misses and the foot itself strikes a near by boulder, which makes it severely damaged.

You stand up immediately and knowing the puppet having a loose foot, attempt to trip it via a sweeping kick. While unsuccessful at making the puppet fall, it does make it loose balance and grab the wall of a near by ruin to keep itself up, but in its hastened attempted at doing so dislodges its right foot.

The puppet trys to leap at you using said wall as leverage, but utimately misses and lands on the ground next to you. With lightening speed you jump on top of the puppet and furiousely slash at it in an attempt to sever all of its strings. The puppet strugles to get you off, but you are too fast, and the puppet slowly looses all of its movement and then is finally unresponsive.

You successfuly took down this fiend without suffering any damage suprisingely. In doing so you gain the following:

A Poor Beryl Kukri and Cracked Bytownite Chigiriki were both part of its anatomy and you are free to take these if you choose. You also gain 20 combat xp and 4% in your knife skill

((I will add the xp in a moment))

Edit: ((What should I change the "Our Character so far" title to? I feel like I can name that something better.))

26
Fight it off.

As your speed trumps the Deadly Puppet's, you are first to strike with your copper knife. However the knife only scratches the puppets. The puppet takes the opportunity to strike back and only manages to push you back a bit.

27
Stop and confront the thing.

You stop in your tracks and look around but at first find nothing. When you finally look back onto the path you were traveling you find a faceless puppet made of wood, stone, bone, bits of flesh with blades for fingers slump on the ground. Just as soon as you notice it, it rises from the ground and engages you.

28
Go to Wudhurst.

While traveling along the path to Wudhurst you feel like something is either watching or following you.

29
((My internet goofed and and made a second post. My apologies.))

30
Uh, read it?

According to the sign going north will lead you to Old Wudhurst . . . which you were already aware of. ((Sorry roll of the dice led me to this pointless event))
