Roll To Dodge / YOU ARE PEASANT
« on: July 11, 2014, 12:33:09 pm »
THIS IS AN RTD USING A D12. BECAUSE D12 IS NEGLECTED AND LONELY.
Spoiler: YER DICE ROLLS (click to show/hide)

You are a peasant, sitting in your crammed peasanty house with other peasants. There are other peasant houses like this surrounding the field. You just woke up because you heard the 'get to work, peasants' bell. You are a little tired, though. What was your...

Nope, works fine for me. What are your worldgen settings?

Nothing other than the default it comes with.

Is it going super slow?

No, normal speed.  It was just annoying, is all.
I did that again, no problems.

Ah, but trees ARE animals. I have justification, too:
http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=140292.msg5461013#msg5461013
That's my post on page two describing exactly how they prey on creatures, despite being immobile.
Every bit of their conscious actions happen within the tree, which includes the roots and the leaves.
Of course, trees lose their leaves during winter. Despite being a great dwarven biologist, not even I can find how they blind creatures without any leaves - my best guess is that the bark itself contains some eyes that only activate during the winter.

Ah yes, I've read that. Still, we cannot leave out the other contenders, can we?
Now, I wonder who would win in fort mode, a dragon or a tree?
Unfortunately, arena tests never led to birds crashing into trees, no matter how I tried. Dragonfire worked wonders at turning treetops into ashes, but the dragon (especially with its immense size and weight) might crash into trees with horrendous force. In that case, the dragon might lose the fight! (Except that dragons don't seem to fly too much and can't get scared into doing so, they have NOFEAR. They also have NOEXERT so they won't drop from tiredness. Maybe they might fall asleep?)
Also, with temp set to dragonfire, eventually you get messages about "something collapsed on the surface", meaning the tree either turns to ash or its roots do and it falls through the ground! Very cool.
At least in DF2012, dragons didn't have wings.

...I can shoot nonagressive animals with crossbows now.   It is incredible how this simple change has forever changed adventure mode for me.

I can properly hunt.   For food.  Without having to stab the animal with a knife first.  I could mod in adventurer crafting too and sell figurines and crap made of bone and leather armor too if I could only figure out why my custom race's currency isn't actually working as currency.
How exactly would you mod in adventurer crafting?
Some interactions or reactions or whatever they are that can be used from the 'x' menu, and take up reagents to make an item.

Read through those documents. Send a letter to the king, alerting him to the recent events.

Wonder why I am in a tent. Check inventory and other belongings. Make a small breakfast.

you know how folks complain about how easy bandits are... well look at this.
Undead Bandits the undead gotten so smart they resorted to thuggery.
How do you make those videos?
It's a .gif, but I'm not sure how.

DF has a built in video recording thingy[At least for Fort Mode it does.]. I've never used it, but it exists.
That goes by tile, though. That scrolls smoothly.

Think of the children.

I waltzed into a tower, claimed the site as mine to the siteowner's face, and proceeded to lash them down for challenging me.  I got a nice little "THE SITE IS YOURS" thing with more detailed descriptions of what had changed hands and to whom with lots of proper nouns.

Anywho, I walk up to the priest--not fancy title like the First Gold down the street, just a priest--and try and talk to him about the event.  He responds to my greeting my spitting, so he gets the lash.  He refuses to yield, he gets the lash again, and the blow to the upper body winds up being a spinal one.

This whole time a pikeman is really just going at some kid, mostly grabbing them but then suddenly stabbing them in the head with a dagger.  I realize that he and another child are lethal to me, whilst the child he's killing is set to ally for me.  I lash down the spearman, but the kid's done fucked.

Then this happens.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I know what you're going to say, but before you state your opinion--

WAS it inevitable?
>asking if torturing a priest was inevitable to a bunch of sadists

Of course it was.

i have a couple broken toes and a broken ear do these ever heal? i forget

They don't,though they are generally harmless, annoying though.

I have a broken left hand, no right hand, two broken arms, two broken legs, no back teeth, a missing finger (on the hand which is also missing) and missing toes.

They can be harmful. I can't pick anything up, I'm considering finding a hole to go die in.

Anyway, can you turn up the enemy-sight thing while still sneaking?
Turn off, you mean? No.

Roguebasin, I read a bunch of LPs. This was around December 2012, and I startedd playing around June 2013. I got on the forums for this release.
