You hadn't noticed, but if she had been riding from Dalaborn, she probably had been riding for almost a day before finding Saya and her pegasus. Now that the effect of the adrenaline was starting to fade, she seemed quite tired.

And he gave me the creeps, there is something almost unnatural about him. Klasha and Seraphim found some money in the chests, 2000 Gold Crowns. Not bad, but there was no doubt most of the money had been moved somewhere else. Frederick or one of his men probably took it... Well, it wasn't a small amount of money.
Meanwhile, Hix found something quite interesting... One of the chests contained a high quality medallion looking like an Iron Shield. He didn't need much examination to verify that it was magical, blessed with defensive magic. The other chests were open. It was possible that after seeing that they were going to lose, the guards took the treasures and fled. Some jewelry had been left, but not much, worth only about 500 Gold Crowns at best.
As the looting was taking place, Lilith looked at Kya with a mixture of curiosity and disbelief. It was hard to find truly loyal men and women, even among the ranks of the Order of Heavens. After a few seconds she sighed and smiled.
"Well, it seems you truly are the most adequate for the job... I'll try to be brief. The Empire cannot win this war. This is not pesimism, this is a fact. Our army is bigger, yes, but what the Alliance lacks in numbers, they make up with their leaders and the fact they only have us as their enemies. We have other problems besides the Alliance. Barbarian attacks from the north, pirates on our coasts, bandits... Even if we defeat Matthew's army, the Empire will lose, as it will be left in such a state that there is no way the Empress will be able to keep it together."
Well... That was bad. It was widely known that the Empire wasn't living it's best times, but those news were quite grim.
"Our only option is to find allies. Allies that need our help, support or influence so much that they will support the Empress no matter what. And we can't afford to be picky about our allies. However some of our potential allies hate each other. If they could be made to work together, it would be great. But it would take a miracle. And we can't risk antagonizing powerful factions."
As she was saying this, Lilith took a piece of paper from one of her pockets. It was a list.
"You might have guessed it by now. The Empress needs someone to go around the world looking for allies. Doing whatever it takes to ensure that they will help. And I believe you and your men will be the best for the job. Of course, you would have to be sneaky about this. We can't afford the Alliance know what we are doing. I have a small list of possible allies. And while it is possible that you find someone else who can help, I believe these are the most likely to help us... As long as we help them too."
She gave Kya the list... It included names, small explanations about why they could be allies and some details about them. It seems they had been thinking about this for a while.
"In many ways, this mission is more difficult and way riskier than fighting in the war. And it is more important. Do you think you will be able to do it?"

Slim Lance or Iron Javelin (the standard weapon for pegasus riders), your choice. And you have to choose one Lance Subcategory.

Things were a bit less tense now, with the group reunited and everyone safe. The group moved through the corridor, trying to rush to Frederick's office... And then fighting sound were heard... The clashing of swords, the roaring of guns and the sound of the dying could all be heard quite loudly. And then, a female voice, a flash of light coming from the end of the corridor and the sounds of people running.
"Cowards... They go back to the shadows from whence they came... Still, they were quite useful. The enemy of my enemy..."
When the group finally took a turn, all that was to be seen were two women, both of them wearing armor of the Order of Heavens, one of them wielding what looked like a mix of sword and whip, the other trying to calm one of the almost mythical creatures known as pegasi. Judging by the scene, they had made their entrance through one big window on the side of the corridor. The only things left from what once was a beautiful painted window were pieces of painted glass scattered along the corridor.
It didn't take long for the one wielding such an exotic weapon to notice you.
"Thank God... It seems we arrived just in time... You might know me as Lilith, Knight of the Seventh Heaven. And this beautiful lady here is Saya Fenrich of the Second Heaven, if I caught her name correctly during our ride."
Both Marcel and Marina looked a bit shocked. If she was telling the truth, she was quite a legend. Saved from an Inquisitorial Tribunal by the Empress herself, it was said she was both a master of sword and magic. She wasn't what most people expected from the Knights of the Seventh Heaven, but in a few months she had made herself invaluable to the Empress thanks to her talents. And now she was right in front of you.
"I know a bit about the situation here... I was on Dalaborn, delivering a letter from the Empress to the Lord of War, when a spy was captured. It wasn't easy, but we managed to make him talk, and he told us about the Alliance's plans on Galgados, and their alliance with Frederick Daorland. I tried to get here as fast as I could, but if I hadn't met lady Fenrich on the border during her patrol, I wouldn't have been able to get here so soon."
After saying this, Lilith bit her lip, and her face showed a bit of anger, probably mixed with some frustration... Her expression quickly changed back to normal, but it was obvious in her voice that she was worried.
"I think I saw Frederick getting out of here as we were making our entrance... I would have loved to teach him a lesson or two... But I had to make sure Lady Daorland was safe. That egocentric bastard must be taking advantage of all the chaos in order to get out of here... Well, at least it seems you are safe."
"Yes. All thanks to Lady Kya and her men... Although Karlson didn't have that luck... The things Frederick did to him..."
"Please, Lady Daorland, calm down... Lady Kya... Kya Frey, isn't it? Anything you might have heard or seen that could be of use? By keeping Marina alive you might have aborted a civil war in Hecate, but now we are at war with the Alliance... And judging but the kind of men that I fought here, it seems they are willing to do anything in order to win. So we need every advantage we can get."
