I dont remember what thread it was, but someone said that when they channel underneath themselves they fall and then they try to catch themselves. If they fail they will then dig the next tile down and if they succeed they will just climb back up and out.

Updown stairs will carry fluids just fine and you can channel down through them its just more of a pain than before.

Snakes only need one piece of armor, a metal mail sock.

But if it's going to be armor for war animals, snakes and chickens probably won't get any. It'd be cool to have armor for animals that actually got armor historically like horses and elephants but if bears could be tamed and trained for war, they'd look badass in full samurai gear.

:) Samurai Bears. Giant Chickens or snakes might be cool for armor. Maybe having a lower size limit for animal armor might be best, after all armored bees might be a lil much.

We already have prefstrings but why not hate strings as well. We could hate elves for thier clean shaven faces, or humans for thier freakish size, even keas for thier evil thieving natures.  :)

How about this?

The armorer takes the animal to the metalsmith's forge, and the animal remains there.
Then, the armorer gathers the materials (according to which metal you chose) for the animal.
Once they have returned, your animal is fitted with armor.

But then, that makes me wonder if animals will require an armor wearing skill? Will trainers have to help train them in it, so their skill goes up, so they move faster?

This is what I was thinking when I started reading through the thread. You could even have the workshop list the animals your fortress has and then select by type. I think it would be useful to be able to in 30 chicken armors or whatever you want to call them to the que via manager etc.

Maybe there could be armor pieces based on body parts, creatures with those parts would be eligable (animals without chests like snakes would not be able to wear breastplates).

Why not let them have a REAL taste of their "masters." Or rather, let their masters have a taste of them.
The secret ingredient... is goth dwarf.

Perhaps you would get more weregophers? Im daydreaming of an artifact rope/chain to restraint the werebeast.

Shame is if they were vampires it would be quite a bit easier to spread the infection.

...technically the adventurer is still alive, but man, I just went through collecting armor for my two hammerdorf companions, got them both in full steel plate, steel hammers, one has a title, other is close, heading towards some inviting stuff after having wandered through a completely empty dark fortress, then this:

Watch the weregophers end up with the swankiest room, fall in love in isolation and then end up tantrum spiraling once they murder their own babies at the first full moon  :o.
