DF Gameplay Questions / How to get a Dwarf out of a tree?

Basically, what the title is. Is there any way to get a dwarf out of a tree once they climb it in a panic, other than cutting the tree down and hoping they survive the fall? I have a marksdwarf stuck 2 levels up in a tree with multiple injuries. Any way to save him?

So, my militia captain of three years who has never seen live combat and has been only sparring and training for that whole time 1v1'd a giant, and the giant never got a hit off. Why is training so terribly effective?

So, I've had 5 Human Necromancers (so far) be spotted in the north end of my embark area, then continue on their merry way to the west, ignoring wild animals, dwarves, and even corpses that were in their way. Each one has had a profession (the latest was a Human Weaponsmith Necromancer), and each one came from the east and headed west, never going anywhere near my fort entrance, or my easily accessible outdoor refuse pile. My question is: What in the world is this? Why are necromancers migrating through my fort?

In my current fort, I plan to train a legendary miner and make him the leader of a military squad, as picks are one of the best weapons in the game for fortress mode. My question is this: Is a steel pick better as the added weight would add to the penetrative aspect of the damage, or would candy be the better for the much sharper edge, and better all around material values?

So, this past year I received no migrants, and no notice of this (the message that says "the fort failed to attract any migrants this year"). Any reason why that would be?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Single Lever Airlocks

So I built two bridges to make an airlock for my trade depot early game. I linked one, pulled the lever and it was raised. Linked the other one, pulled the lever again. Now both were upright forming walls. Pulled it again and they were both down. Did I do something wrong? ;~;

Yes, they still kill them, but if you channel stuff out and it creates a path into your fort even up a sheer wall, they can and will climb straight in. This makes things so much harder now if you get one with deadly dust.

So the regrowth of trees was supposedly lowered to 1/10th of what we were experiencing in 0.40.01-.04. In two whole years, not a single tree has regrown. Like. Not even exaggerating. Anyone else getting this?

Is this bug actually fixed now? The wiki does not yet say it is, but I made a candy minecart just to test it and it took the full 6 wafers of the stuff.

I checked the wiki and couldn't find whether building destroyers of the level 2 variety can destroy supports?

I want to know because I would just love it if this forgotten beast would break a support on its own and kill itself with a cave-in trap seeing how it has poisonous vapors...

So, I genned a fresh world for 40.05. I was all set to spit in the elven diplomat's face when I saw on the changelog that elven diplomacy had returned (or something to that effect). But it turns out my civilization is at war with elves, so I have no idea if the elven diplomat is reinstated. So my question is: Does anyone know for sure whether the elven diplomat who asks for a tree quota has returned, and is this the cause for my civilizations war with them?

Does pathfinding through ramps in Fortress Mode seem a little broken to anyone? I decided to use ramps instead of stairs in my fortress this time, but after about 3 or 4 levels of ramps, my miners wouldn't take the dig designations anymore. They wouldn't cancel them or actually dig. They just sat with the "No Job" status for weeks. Also, I set a shortcut from my surface level wood stockpile to my -5z smelting operations so they could get to the wood faster, but they refuse to use it, even when it is set to high traffic designation.  Frankly, I'm a bit stumped. :-\
