NEW MISSION: I WANT YOU TO BLOW UP....THE OCEAN!

I vote we banish nomoetoe to the stocks!
References aside, I wouldn't mind one-upping the guys who re-engineered an ocean to trap walruses by simply exploding the ocean.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Draw your adventures

Anyone mind drawing this for me? I'm terrible at drawing even stick-figures, not to mention detailed characters.

Imagine the adventurer doing this as a mannish, muscular female. (that was essentially her look in-game, though I don't have a screenshot of her description)

Some personal examples:
Crushballs the Fireman
Thethrus Polishedlutes the Uncertain Rage of Beans the dwarf
Thira Snotsswallows the centaur elder shaman
Dong Stokerchews the centaur shaman
Baitslunk the Deceiver of Snails the ass demon - beware it's deadly gas! (Also it was killed by a giant snail)
Mudob Ngogngoospgu the orc (try saying that three times fast; also I don't remember what the translated version was)
The Robustness of Dominating the deity - depicted as a female vrykul dressed in leather and wielding a whip, associated with strength.

Book titles:
Stupid Belza Scornraces (authored by Belza Scornraces)
Fondled Fantasy (authored by gnoll psychic Zuza Wornmelt. The writing is throughly mechanical and contains disturbing content)
Fire and Fire (it concerns fire)
Hellfire and Society (the writing is fairly crisp - that's actually in the game; the game itself made a lame pun)
Search for the Promised Muffins (the writing has a touch of melancholy)
The Human: Single and Loyal (concerns dating advice)
Sticky Was The Summit (the writing is innuendo-tastic)
The Centaur: Vulgar Thoughts (not even gonna bother with this one)
Vomitcraft II: Beyond the Bold Loaves (the writing is thoroughly disgusting)

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Spells!!!

To be fair, regarding balance there's a ton of stuff that's unbalanced to begin with (and IMO it's what makes this game really fun), so I don't think that'd be much of a concern when adding more types of magic.
It's not really like magic users are easy to get in either adventure mode in fort mode, so I think that by itself balances it out.
I personally have 3 schools of magic in my worlds including necromancy.
Kinda sucks how spellcasters need some kind of "animate" spell to actually make towers and make their books and slabs available to read. Hope that changes whenever new spellcasters are officially added.

Honestly that'd probably be even more cruel than outright killing them.

Elves are not made of flesh and bone, but of weakness and failure.

Don't forget self-righteous, tree-hugging hypocrisy. Oh, and cannibalism.

I do recall having a gremlin recruit agree to join me once.
I haven't seen the second glitch myself in-game though, but I've seen atleast one thread on it.
It probably died after being stabbed once because the game updated it's state, so it fell over because it had no brain. There's something similar with necrosis IIRC.

I've seen this question on another thread and it's recommended to change the velocity modifier of the maul to around 10000 to make them practical.

This is friggin awesome. I'd love a turn but unfortunately I'm rather busy with studying. Maybe later.

The only baby I come across was elven. It promptly got kicked by me and stabbed by my companions. Buuuut it was an elf, so, whatever...
Never seen anyone die of old age in-game myself. Kinda makes me jealous of people who have bandit leaders charge them only to die of age. I would suffocate laughing if that happened to me.

I also had a badass story I remembered from an earlier version of 0.40, don't remember which one exactly, but anyway. I was a dwarf axedwarf travelling with a macedwarf and marksdwarf and gained infamy for killing bandits and stealing things from merchants.
Eventually this caught up with me and I was ambushed by a group of atleast 15 dwarven recruits, 2 marksdwarves and also 2 human crossbowmen, all in a box formation around me and my 2 companions. This happened around noon in-game, so you can imagine that the atmosphere was kind of awesome in a wild-west showdown sorta way.
I started by going after the crossbowmen due to previous experiences. What I didn't notice is the recruits swarming my macedwarf friend and holding him down and beating and stabbing him to death; there was literally 9 recruits on top of him in a square. The marksdwarf ran away during the fight, so he actually survived as I found out in legends.
After going on a rampage of revenge I killed nearly every recruit and every crossbowman, which made the rest collectively crap themselves and try to run away. I noticed one of them was hit by a crossbow bolt, so I thought my marksdwarf friend returned, but I couldn't have been more wrong.
Apparently, a goblin army was marching right where I was having this battle, and they started killing off the survivors. My leg's muscles were torn during the fight with the goblins, so I thought I might as well go out like a warrior instead of trying to crawl away. I noticed the goblin lady, a pikewoman, along with her lasher bodyguard, standing some distance away from the battle.
I crawled up to them and tried to kill them. It didn't work out. The lasher broke my other leg, sending me into unconsciousness, and the lady finished me off with a stab to the head.

That's why after knocking them unconscious after the first few fingers, you then travel away and immediately come back to find them all full up of blood again. Meaning you can keep cutting limbs off again and again as long as you're careful. In my experience cutting two arms off is enough to kill someone most of the time, but not all the time, and cutting two legs off is I think always enough to kill one of the vanilla civilized creatures.
Thank you for the advice. There is now an unfortunate cheese maker who is now effectively a torso-and-head shaped lump as a punishment for his useless profession.

It's a wonder he can still talk, he doesn't have a tongue anymore. Or cheeks. or teeth. Or anything, really. He doesn't even have eyelids now.
Glad I could help.

Bay 12 is the only community on the internet or...anywhere, for that matter, where a conversation like this could even take place.

Also, Kars the elf? He's lucky he didn't come across a goblin or human named Jojo.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: What is your preferred weapon?
« on: June 16, 2015, 08:42:44 am »
Non-modded, I usually prefer using a two-handed sword with a shield. Often augmented by picking up random weapons from slain enemies and using them as throwing weapons. Feels really satisfying to throw an axe or dagger and get the "Victim McDead has been shot and killed" after a successful headshot (headthrow?)

Modded, I do the same throwing thing but as a main weapon I use either a claw and knuckleduster, or a dacian falx (a big 2-handed sickle-like weapon).

Have you checked if the town is abandoned? That would explain it.

2639
I wonder if that one guy would have been hostile.
Also, setting up camp south of a dark fortress seems like a way to get yourself killed by goblin patrols. Just saying.

Having your liver smashed as a dwarf must be like having your testicles crushed as a human.
