DF General Discussion / Re: Donating from Germany without credit card?

Find someone who's traveling to the US and have them mail it when they arrive? Look for American tourists and try to get dollars from them?

SO. since this is the Future of the Fortress thread: New Clowns to play with! I hope we get a Sad Face Clown and one with a Water Spraying Flower. That would be So. Much. FUN!

No!

No On topic discussion on this page or we are DOOOOOOMMMMEED!!!!!!!

I was kind of hoping for DOOOOOOOOMM! Because DOOOOOOOM can be FUN!

Not without magma,it isnt...

DººM had magma, or lava, or other nasty-type floors.

  • Dwarf Fortress
  • Doom
  • Sim City Classic
  • Escape from Monkey Island
  • Grim Fandango

I'd probably have wanted the last two switched, but was too lazy.

You can floor or grate over magma and it will be safe.

I usually channel it a Z-level below, and then only open a single hole, and the build the forge such that an impassible part of it is over the hole, and it works great.

I found it really interesting to read Christopher Tolkien's History of Middle Earth, whaere he ran thoruogh all his father's rough drafts to tell the story of the evolution if LOTR.

Yeah, it was really interesting to see that certain scenes were word-for-word from the first draft, but in a completely different place. I especially liked the "story seen from here" parts.

Windows 7 (and 64 bit) removes the 16-bit compatibility mode when thunked into 64 bit mode.

Technically, it says:

Quote
Shelob was gone; and whether she lay long in her lair, nursing her malice and her misery, and in slow years of darkness healed herself from withing, rebuilding her clustered eyes, until with hunger like death she spun once more her dreadful snares in the glens of the Mountains of Shadow, this tale does not tell.

Don't children do certain jobs anyway, like harvesting and hauling?

Sadly, I kind of ignore them. I end up with so many, it's impossible to adequately assign them where they'd me most useful. And I don't work hard making sure that they only have useful things before they go fey.

If toady is so worried about his code that he doesn't release the raws, can't he copyright something so noone can duplicate it?

He's not worried about releasing the raws, but I assume you mean source code. Since he lives on DF, he wants to make sure that he's the prime mover of all that is used. Copyright alone wouldn't prevent forking, and at this time it would be more hassle than it's worth.

Can't a profiler be run against the code even if we don't have the source? If we can identify a portion of the code that is taking a long time, we can poke it with a stick, even if we don't know what it is.
