I guess you could do something cheesy with savescrumming and turning invasions off right before each goblin one.

Or modify the RAWs so that goblins are elves.

You can ignore the threads you don't want to see.

You can quickly look at the last post in said threads.

You can try not to post in such threads.

48
If you edit the init files to turn off invaders, will you still get seiged by pissed off traders?

49
Embark in an elven capitol?

Piss them off and capture their siege forces?

I would like the chance for helpful ghosts. So the old mason rose again? Sometimes he does some masonry.

DF Suggestions / Urist has created a masterpiece *item*

This would be a simple change; simply add the type of item created to the announcement.

So has anyone figured out what happens when you divide by zero?
You get infinity.

Think about it this way: if you have a blob containing 6 thingamajigs, and you start separating out blobs containing no thingamajigs, then you get infinity blobs.

or at least, that's how i think about it :)

However, if you approach it from the other side, you get negative infinity, so the answer has to be undefined.

DF General Discussion / Re: What's Toady doing?
« on: May 05, 2010, 01:45:53 am »
The 40d# versions were written against the 40d source (or parts of it). The 40d source evolved in a separate branch and became Pikatchu 31, and now Toady has to make it so that the 40d# parts and the 31 parts can mesh again.

54
"40d# merge" refers to the process of combining (merging) the 40d# code, which provided (among many other cool things) native Mac/Linux support, with the current DF release.  When Toady finishes this process, he'll release a new version of DF that will include Mac/Linux support.  The "merge" is not a version or port per se, but they go hand in hand.

It may have provided Linux support, but Mac support existed before the 40d# versions. Witness:

DF 0.27.176.38b (February 23, 2008) : Mac

on the download pages.

Well done! I like it!

But you slipped and used Bronzemurdered once.

I think this is thread #5.

Toady should make a "benchmark fortress" - a default fortress that loads, runs for a period of time, and then exits, telling you the FPS.

Then we could benchmark things and compare numbers and be happy!

DF General Discussion / Re: Real-world information in the Wiki?

The wiki is for empty DF2010 pages and revert wars, not for useful information.

Known issue, fixed in the upcoming release.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Not Exactly a Loveletter to Fans
« on: April 19, 2010, 10:19:17 pm »
The options were:

1. DF as it is now, playable, but with much fun.
2. Wait another half-year as Toady tries to fix everything.

Now that's it's released, we have more testers, and even some people who can help deduce the causes of bugs. See the tracker.
