Experimental memory layouts for 0.44.06 (untested):
Windows 64 bits seems to be working just fine! Thank you!

I'm using windows (and I'm guessing the memory layouts are completely different?), but thank you anyway!

Has anyone had a chance to find a memory layout for the latest version? I'm looking forward to playing 44.06 but find it practically impossible without dwarf therapist haha.

That embark was pretty close to goblin country, though. I would speculate that being closer might make you a more attractive target, even if you're nominally "neighbors" either way.

I plopped one embark one map-tile away from a bunch of goblin sites. Nothin'. I've made sure my worlds have at least a 'short' history, so these sites are well established, too.

I had one siege and then it went silent for years now. Liason brings in news about what sounds like goblin civ conquering sites, so that's probably it, they all busy.

My liasons always seem to be either dead, or telling me that the world was the same as ever. :/

Was this a clean install or did you overwrite DF with another DF? Or overwrite any of the files or have duplicated RAWs? But, in your case, its probably something related to sites and armies.

Clean install. I think I migrated one set of save files from 40.12, though.... Could this have done something?
In the previous version I was getting tonnes of goblin attacks, but in this one - nada.

Define "high population". Proper sieges will never come until you reach 80 dwarves. This is a fact.

More than this on each of of the four embarks. Plus, I usually get baby snatchers and the like well before ~80 dorfs. :/

For my last four embarks (latest DF version, 40.13) - I've had no goblin attacks. No baby snatchers, ambushes, or sieges...

It's really putting a stopper in my plans for a goblin menagerie.

I've made sure that 'goblins' are in my list of neighbours prior to embark, 'invasions' are on in my d_init file, and my forts are years old, high-population and full of high-value goods.

Is this likely some other setting somewhere that I've messed with accidentally, or is this a bug anyone else has encountered in this version?

Perhaps fort-born dwarves could only visibly like things that exist in the fort, maybe? Or perhaps they could inherit preferences from their relatives?

I imagine some migrants would have encountered many exotic objects/materials/animals! Who knows what adventures they have had throughout their lives.

I like the idea that some of the more rare, foreign, or spoilery preferences have a higher chance to remain hidden, though. Also the idea that once the fort discovers something, every dwarf discovers it too. I imagine my tiny dwarf community as being full of gossip.
