General Discussion / Gene-Engineering
« on: March 20, 2015, 05:54:44 pm »
With recent advances in gene-engineering it's seeming more and more likely that we'll eventually get to a place where we can cure genetic diseases relatively easily, but what about going beyond that and actually improving your base human form? Should people be allowed to buy that technology at the risk of creating an upper class of gene-engineered humans? What methods can be employed to prevent that outcome? What other problems could arise from successful gene-engineering?

As for the class problem, I think that a sufficiently high tax should take care of the problem. Say you're in the top 10% of the richest people in the country, you would have to pay a 900% tax so that one person from each wealth level (10%) below you can all buy the same genetic modification you bought.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Game Idea - OMNIWIZARD - Looking for GM
« on: October 15, 2014, 04:07:04 am »
So I recently finished making the design document for a game called OMNIWIZARD. You can change the name if you want, I don't care. It's basically Avatar but with more elements, mana, a lot more flexibility when using the elements, and possibly being set in a classical Western fantasy world. I'd GM it myself, but I would do a horrible job so I'm just gonna pass the document to a GM who actually can do it.

The design document comes with the mechanics of the game - minus a few blanks the GM can put in (skills for example) - and even an example protagonist with a very light, classic backstory.

If any GMs are interested in taking it up, I'll PM you a link to see the document. I'd simply put it up here, but the document contains spoilers as to what the players are capable of doing with their bending magic. I'll just post the link here if no one contacts me.

Inspired by Avatar, ELEMENTS 2, and the Dragon Ball franchise. Here's to making my first thread on this forum!

EDIT: I should note that I'll be entirely willing to help any GM with the game when it comes to mechanical issues.
