24x24 version of the tileset

looks amazing, so well defined. I'm used to square tiles by now but I wonder whether I'm missing out on the nonsquare. Do you have a reason why you prefer it?
Anyway thanks for the tileset!

I prefer nonsquare for the text mostly, i use a nonsquare with twbt, so its more readable.

Did you change the [PRINT_MODE:2D] in init to [PRINT_MODE:TWBT]?

I made one version with custom wall. I might add in the future, some tiles to it that are less 'ASCII'.

Doesn't look as good in trees tho.

Pillar and tree trunk use tile 255.

Doren, do you have any plan doing your own graphic set?

This tileset is a convertion of the font 'press start 2p'.

Codeman38, the creator of this font, based it on old games from Namco of the 70' and 80'. His website is here http://www.zone38.net/font/.

PressStart 2p [square] 18x18

PressStart 2p [rectangle] 18x22 (better for text) (recommend using this as a text tileset for TWBT)

Screenshot of 18x22

Aaaand again, some more tiles. This time I've been doing some more weapons (man, those are fun to make), cabinets, table and chair and weapon racks (yeah, plural. See? I tend to do a lot of variants of some things...)

Well, I think it's time now that I start to think on working with a bit more... organization. Meaning to pick one of the multiple "sets" a graphic pack needs (text, graphic, races, creatures...etc) and make the tiles for it from start to finish.

I will be using Gemset raws and tiles as a template, as I intend to do a graphic set as complete as possible. I already spoke with DragondePlatino and he gave me permission. He has done the hard part and an amazing job that I think will mark a before and after in doing graphic sets for DF (which has been made possible thanks to mifki and TWBT) and has a lot more knowledge than me on the modding part. I'm just a graphics guy and a newly arrived to the game at that, and have a lot to learn.

Another little update, this time with walls. I think this is one of the most important things to get right. You spend a lot of time looking at this and the "coolness" factor of your fortress depend on them. Can make or break a tileset. The important bit for now though is perspective. The designs are not final, just the basics. Some of them are basically the same design I had for the 24x24 on the first post. I haven't done the engravings and such.

I'm leaning to #3 I think as they match better the perspective I have for the objects and constructions (see the well to the side for comparison). Don't know if the upper or the lower one though. The upper one seems really soft, not "hard" enough for the style and feel I'm leaning towards. Perspective is a bit higher in that one.

Anyway, as I said, I have to add the engravings and some more decorations in the walls (don't want to overdoit though, they'd look noisy at small zoom levels).

Spoiler: #2 "Fake" perspective (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: #3 Oblique perspective (click to show/hide)

OH! They look all good! O_O

But if i had to choose one i think i would go with the third.

With TWBT you are not limited by 80x25, so if he want to go higher then 24 there no problem. But personally i found 24x a good middle ground, not too big or too small, just the right size for me.

Amazing! Really nice work, i was about to continue my tileset but i think i'll wait for yours! Really like the details in your tiles.

Nice work, really likes that tileset!

See? This was exactly what I was talking about.

In DFHack, mined-out stone is called BOULDER while the pebbles you find in Adventure mode are ROCKs. If you swap out ROCK for BOULDER it should work. Oh, and make sure you do separate overrides for cinnabar/cobalt and bituminous coal since they use different tiles.

Oh, thats odd but it work perfectly, thanks.^^

Hi, i'm a lil bit rusty with overrides so i don't know whats wrong in that overides.

[OVERRIDE:7:I:ROCK:ROCK::6:6]

Trying to overides mined stone but it doesnt seem to work. Anyone know what i'm doing wrong?
