You want it, I want it, and it'd be a blast for some of the crazier succession game ideas. At what point do y'all think the game would be polished enough to actually allow for such a massive (or perhaps even larger) embark to not just be possible, but stable? Hell, at that size we'll actually be able to build full-size human towns or fit multiple mega projects in a single succession game. Not only that, but assuming infantry formations are ever implemented along with multi-tile creatures, then we'll have a larger battlefield to test our tactics.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / The Reconquista

Hundreds of green-skinned corpses lie in the refuse pit, being mulched to an unrecognizable mass of gore by an excellently crafted cobalt bridge. One by one, the dark pits send their entire populace against the walls of the great fortress Glowtombs. Weapons wielded by previous attackers are repurposed into traps that will kill more of their kin. The fortress holds, for now. The defenders are becoming crippled. There's a loss of a master every other season. The doctors struggle to keep up with the demand, and the miners struggle to find more iron in the caves to outfit the foreign mercenaries that have thrown in their lot with the dwarves.

This fortress was originally created to serve as a grand mausoleum in which the King would finally rest, his corpse and spirit on the front lines against the forces of darkness to the south, acting as a ward and a warning to all evil that wished to cross him. It was a lofty goal that would never be met. The goblins invaded and occupied the mountainhomes and many hillocks in a grand campaign led by their demon overlord. In the first year of the fortress' growth, all that supported it fell. Now Glowtombs remains the last bastion of hope for the good people of this world against the goblins. The humans to the east hold their own for now, but their villages are slowly being overtaken. The elves have fallen long before, with only a few isolated retreats remaining in their hands. A handful of hillocks have been formed around Glowtombs, populated mostly by escaped refugees of the mountainhomes.

The king and queen are dead, and their descendants are in hiding among the vulnerable hillocks yet to be overtaken by the legions of filth. The Baron of Glowtombs knows what he must do. The fortress must serve its original purpose. And to do that, they'll have to recover the bodies.


Now a question, how much of a military should I have before trying to reconquer the mountainhomes? Their population is at least 1000+ still, even after the battle killed hundreds of dwarves. I've been sending my crippled military veterans to conquer newly-emptied dark pits to some effect, but I still have no hope of outlasting the goblins with their hundreds of pits, and their dark towers each having 10k+ goblins.

DF Gameplay Questions / Warring with multiple goblin civs = seasonal sieges?

I'm unsure if sieges are meant to be this common, but after pissing off not one, but five different goblin civs, I'm now on the receiving end of sieges every season change now. Does an increase in the number of warring civs increase the amount of sieges you should get in a year? Also, a separate but related question, how do I speed up the looting of goblinite and disposal of corpse-stuff from my trap hall? I'm barely able to start picking up and atom smashing teeth by the time next season's siege comes in, even with a dedicated caste of haulers.

I'm making a text adventure game for my AP computer science Performance Task, and I would like to let you guys give me a bunch of names.

Right now I need a dwarf name (placeholder is TOBNOM ASSGOD) a bunch of goblin names, a troll name or two, and a name for a forgotten beast. The dwarf main character starts as a brainwashed kidnapee of a goblin faction that joins a raiding party. Should he have a dwarven name or a goblin name?

Welcome to the gardening thread, for all your growing needs, wants, and rants! What are you growing? How are you growing it? Why aren't you growing something better with that precious soil you impotent waste of space? are you growing it?

So far, here's what I've started up since monday, I'm excited for the flowers and subsequently the butterflies to come in.

Growing in small jiffy pots: Pumpkins "fresh" from the slaughtered pumpkin witch, and a generic pumpkin named "paul"
Growing in starters: Nasturtium "Empress of India", and Purple Cone Flower Echinaceas
Growing in a rack: Sun Flowers, more Purple Cone Flowers, Gaillard Goblins, 2 types of onions (MY SWAMP)
Growing in ceramic pots: Various seasonings and garnishes, including catnip.

I've a bunch of 20" plastic pots that I found in my ditch left over, what else should I try growing?

General Discussion / Autist Interview

Next time I have nothing to do, I'm going to interview an autist. What should I ask him? Try to keep the questions and expected answers school appropriate. Also this guy is barely functional without someone constantly telling him what to do, so this is gonna be extra fun.

I'll be reshaping the questions into something I could actually ask him, and I'll post a transcript of the whole conversation here in a pastebin when I actually do it.

Life Advice / How should I go about helping my brother?

Alright, so my brother is working barely above minimum wage as a bus boy for a yacht club. He's helping support the family because my father can't work, and my mother can't find work. This is all putting a great deal of stress on him because he feels like he's held prisoner since he's been giving the majority of his paycheck to my mom so we can get groceries and stay in the house.

For about three years now, he's been going to his friend's house to blaze it up. He comes to the house fucked up every other day, and frequently ditches me and his other friends even after we've made plans and after we've started doing stuff together just because his friend calls and offers to smoke pot with him. He is not really using pot to enjoy life in my opinion, it feels as though he's just using it to deal with life. That's probably not the best option. In my opinion, life should be dealt with sober, with all faculties so you know what the fuck you're doing. He often has no clue as to what's going on around him.

Every day I get a long rant from my mom complaining about him, most of them valid complaints. Things like, "He thinks that we're doing to this because we don't like them, but we just need his help" and "What is he going to do if your father finds out he's been smoking and kicks him out?" He's also a horrible driver. He has almost no awareness as to what people are doing around him, and often misses the street he intends to go down. He has already crashed his car thrice, totaling it the third time in which he T-boned an SUV that had children inside. He was borrowing my uncle's old pickup truck for a while before recently my uncle has forbid him from using it again, as the side of the truck got scratched to hell because he parked near a bush every time he went to his friend's house to smoke. Now, we have to drive him to his work which is 30 minutes away in a car with barely functioning brakes.

He also has no idea how to manage his money. After the 2/3rds of his paycheck he gives to us so that we can deal with house stuff, he almost always blows the rest of it on pot or copious amounts of snacks. He then complains about how he never has money.



Must leave temporarily, will update thread later today with the rest of this rant, I guess. Will not be editing OP besides this crossout and this statement.

I tried trading for all of my friend's 100grands, but came short 700grand of 1 million to loan out to someone.

Also, my friend was dressed up in a huge, inflatable T-Rex costume, and ended up meeting another T-Rex, they promptly charged eachother, started dancing, and banging their huge inflatable heads against eachother. My other friend was in a chicken costume and met another person in the same costume, and they both tried running from my brother, he was dressed as a chef and gave chase yelling about soup. I got scurvy. Later in the night, some group of girls were walking to their car, and the one next to me tried opening a locked door, grunted, and gave out a small "I think I broke my naail!" and I just started laughing my ass off and kept walking, I think I heard her say "That fucker." My friend scolded me, saying that it's not funny. Then we walked a few more steps and he continued, "as long as they're not near us." and started laughing too.

We're thinking of all going as crusaders next year, chanting "DEUS VULT!" throughout the streets.

Our group was pretty large, we had:
A pirate (me)
A chicken
A T-Rex that kept stopping because sooo many people wanted pictures
A communist revolutionary that carried around an airsoft AK
A freedom fighter that asked everyone for freedom
A purger
A failed carpenter (he had a circular saw blade sticking out of his side)
A chef
Green Arrow
Harley Quinn & Joker (They made out a bit, then left the group after two streets, thankfully.)

Life Advice / Everyone I know is broken.

My family has been through some shit recently. We've been through some legal scares, and my dad's on probation. We've been through a numerous amount of financial issues, and now we're in foreclosure. The only place we have to go is an already-crowded house owned by my increasingly-impatient grandparents. I've been going blind, and that's just the top of my multitude of health problems that constantly make my parents worry.

My mom and dad are broken from the stress of dealing with my health and adult issues. My brother is working near minimum wage, unable to support us while damning us for condemning him to stay in the house, saying that he can't move anywhere in life with us dragging him along. If he doesn't help pay the bills, we would've lost the house months ago and gone hungry. He now spends most of his pay that he keeps for himself on weed to deal with the stress. I still think he has been broken, since he is extremely irritable when he's not high, and is falling into a depression.

I consider myself an optimistic realist. I'll say what's probably gonna happen, and shoot for the best result. Currently, the best result would be for us to be forced into a crowded house, lose most of our privacy and property, and have me be doomed to either support my family or run away and attempt to support myself. I would hate myself for abandoning my family, since I love them so much, but staying with them would be nearly a life-in-prison sentence, like my brother so often compares it to. My family is so sad, and I'm mostly unable to do anything to help them, as most employers don't want anymore 16 year olds working for them.

No one is able to hold the stress anymore, and it's chipping away at me. I've got no good idea on what to do to help, and I'm unsure that even if I do attempt to help, it wouldn't do anything meaningful for us.

Play With Your Buddies / A call for adventurers! (DnD 5e ongoing campaign)

The frontier has expanded! Settlers are finally moving into an unnamed mountain range to the west of civilization, and the forces of evil have been sighted! Hear this call and take up arms against the goblin menace today!

I'm running an online campaign over a text program complete with chat and image bots, but we can't use grids. We just work around that, though. I feel that the group is perhaps too small (4 Players, not including myself) and would like at least two more adventurers to join in on their travels, be they seasoned or raw. No class or race (within the core and official supplements) are off-limits, so feel free to bring whatever tools of the trade you prefer.

Expect memes, jokes, and plenty of faggotry. Seriously, 3/4 players are gay furries. They don't really bring it into the game (Except for maybe one, but even then it's just a tiny bit) so it's nothing too bad to worry about. What I'm personally looking for is someone that's willing to push the action further. To push their characters toward the story, without them meandering around a single area for 5 hours. I'm looking for someone that's willing to take up the mantle of leader.

DF General Discussion / I'm trying to make a D&D campaign based off DF

The general gist is that the adventurers are of divine parentage, but don't know of it, as they are born into the world as orphans, and that they were put there because of hell trying to take over the surface through demonic spires and goblin civilizations, with vaults being prisons for tainted angels, spires housing damned dead, goblins, and a demon overlord, with a sealed entrance to the roof of hell.

The roof of hell is pretty much just the DF hell that separates the earth and the actual hell.

Once possible, I will upload a puush text file that has the full idea so far.

General Discussion / My mom's blending a bunch of tin/aluminum foil

She says it's for my dad. My dad's a handy-man, but the only use I could think of for powdered aluminum is thermite, and I doubt that they need thermite.

She refuses to tell me anything else, what do?
