Terrifying mountain range. It would be a huge challenge for Elves.

Well then, I think it's time for Nil's first journal entry...

So, we have arrived here. A place called Castlefly, one of the few fortresses that our people have made. Long ago, its inhabitants were forced out by a great beast, forgotten in the mists of time. There is not too much. The landscape is a frozen wasteland, just outside the lands in which corpses walk free. The accessible fortress is fairly small. We have found the useful remnants of magma forges, which greatly improves our Smithy situation. The aquifer under the earth has flooded the bottom of the fort, making it inaccessible to us. While looking through the wastes and ruins, we found some weapons. Thank the Gods.

Hardly a week into summer, we are being sieged by the Bugbears. We all took up arms. I had a silver war hammer, Maskwolf an iron, the miner used her pick, Tosid and Atir found hatchets. Mezbuth used a falcata. They split up in order to search for the entrance, luckily for us. I will never forget what happened next.

Maskwolf charged forward with the fury of Hell itself and brought down one of the foul creatures in a single swing, moving next to the Macebear that was then decapitated by Mezbuth. It was at this time I joined the fray, catching their archer rightfully fleeing for his life. I began my charge toward him, but before I could get there, Maskwolf reached the poor soul. He broke his foot and slammed him into the dirt as I came in readying a swing. Again, his homicidal rage was too quick and bits of brain flew into my face, unleashed by Maskwolf. It was horrible, blood and gore everywhere. But I had a job to do, no matter how gruesome. I charged for the last one, bringing him down so that Tosid could sink her hatchet into it and another brave Dwarf could relieve it of its head, blood spraying everywhere. We picked ourselves out of the puddles of blood, cleaned ourselves, and checked for wounds. Maskwolf has some bruising, but it's nothing serious.

And so we've defended ourselves, with no casualties or major injuries, but can we continue? We were lucky, but all luck eventually runs out...
    -Nil
Note to self: Stay away from Maskwolf. He's more liable to kill us than any raid or siege.

Ooh, Nil is a lovely Dwarf. Couldn't have asked for better! His original name can stay because "Hanmer Stronghammer" is redundant. A little bit of military training should harden him quite nicely. Looking forward to writing his journals in the future. He has a great personality.

I'll take a Dwarf, please. A self-righteous lawman (hammerer, sheriff, etc.) by the name of Stronghammer. He can be a soldier if you wish, or stick strictly to law enforcement. If he does go to war, he must use his hammer. As a civilian job, he's a blacksmith, using his hammer to shape great works of metal. He loves his hammer if you can't tell. Like, a lot.

Note: When I say blacksmith he doesn't need to be an armored or weapon smith, though weaponsmith is preferred. He could also be a metal crafter and blacksmith (exact profession names).
EDIT: Specifically, I'll take the first Dwarf Nil Rimfair - The Cowardly Lion (1 lye making, hammer, armor, shield, 2 dodger, 4 discipline) [Soldier] though I hope that name changes. He can stay a lye maker for the time being.
Just realized, apologizes for double post. I meant to edit, not quote.

Urist cancels save world: the world ends when he says it ends!

What would Urist do if his life dream was world domination?

I'd like a stereotypical Legolas please. A sharpshooter military Elf, leader of his squad if possible.

Make way for lady Bėmbul of the Fatal Council!

*Stabs lord in gut*

Problem with this idea is:
1. Vampires feed only on sleeping dwarves. Well, maybe not only dwarves. But they certainly have to be unconsious.
2. Siegers don't sleep.
Give the vamps war hammers. The siegers will "sleep" well.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?
« on: September 07, 2014, 10:52:00 am »
I just learned that not all embark sites have as high elevation as what I'm accustomed to, so I might abandon my fortress due to the sheer lack of stone and underground z-levels. 5 layers between the surface and a cavern. I hope I didn't mess up advanced world gen because I love this world.

Dammit... Ohwell. He's a human. Can you rule multiple places at once? I'd love to rule every single country in this world.
I've owned multiple places at once before, but from different groups. Now, I'm The Lord of multiple entities (not civs, but their subgroups), and the resulting political turmoil should be pretty funny.

Dear Urist McVampire:
Now, I generally don't have a problem with your kind. In fact, under different circumstances ou would be our champion, single-handedly wiping out 70 Goblin sieges, but I found you in other circumstances. You started by killing my legendary miner. They found her rotting carcass drained of blood. Then, you killed a CHILD. That's the future of our military when he's 12! After you were convicted of these murders, I had you imprisoned, but somehow you managed to win an entire political campaign as you were dragged down the hall to your cell, replacing the old mayor that I liked. After over a year of incarceration, you were released, met with a liaison, and went about your foul deeds, draining yet another child and a legendary mason. Needless to say, I forged a hammer and appointed a special noble.

100 hammer strikes later, you're sitting here in the hospital with no teeth, broken bones, and an infection. You have been refused treatment. The old mayor was appointed as baroness. You're done.

Please stop killing my Dwarves while I isolate you and prepare you for war. Your bloodlust would be better served on Goblins. If you do not conform, you will die.

Your petty Overseer.

Sieges could be the "food" supply...

I just broke every bone in a vampire's body before stabbing him to death and drinking his blood.

I feel nothing.
