DF Gameplay Questions / smoothing issues

so, ive got the latest version, and i am trying to see how people got the smooth (round) circles and the straight diagonal walls, like on here:

is it simply not a feature anymore, or am i missing something?

DF Gameplay Questions / Dwarf will not get materials

So I have a dwarf that entered a atrange mood, and she wants wood and rough gems. i have a ton of wood, and a lot of gems, both piles placed next to her, and she went and got wood, and then stopped. i tried the DFHack showmood command and it says any gem. is there a reason why she will not get it?

So I just got my first ranger, and instead of doing normal jobs like the rest of the migrants, he just goes to the meeting are and then immediately starts hunting. he has killed about 8 deer and foxes, and hes starting to get slow, but he absolutely won't go get a drink. how do i get him to stop hunting? p.s. this is on 34.xx

So I downloaded the world, moved it into my save folder and everything, checked the wiki, did those steps, and yet, when I run DF and hit continue playing, the world doesn't show up. Is there something wrong with my copy, the name of the world (it uses the old season-year name), or something else?
