Right! Now the first order of balancing business; I have increased the whip and scourge prices to better reflect their strength in this version of dwarf fortress. I hope everyone we'll see this as a just and fair change.

I want to thank everyone who has participated, and everyone who has not. You have all made this possible. I remember when I first posted this, as if it were three days ago. I was very meek about the idea and thought it would quickly be abandoned, I am so very glad that that was not the case. Again, thank you guys!

Champions may not enter another tournament, that is, until sixteen champions have been made. At which point there will be held a grand tournament for greatest fighter in the universe!

CHAMPIONSHIP BOUT
Hodekin the Legendary Decapitator VS. Mogwai the Devious

This is it folks, the moment you've all been waiting for, the finals! Tape open your eyelids, pucker your collective asses and sit down to see the very first gladiator be crowned champion, this is history in the making! On either side of the magma pit we have our finalists, both small in stature but deadly in skill!

Hodekin the Legendary, slayer of Varick the Flighty (Twice!), slayer of Bax, the Prince of the Land of Stench, slayer of Orthus the Manflayer, lord of decapitation. This amazing little kobold has shown that with precision and hard work, any creature can rise to the top! He comes from a clutch of dragon worshiping kobolds and hopes to bring the gold home for recognition, and to be inducted in the annals of history forever! Weighing in at 20,000 Urists he is twice the size of his opponent.

Mogwai the Devious, purveyor of rude gimmicks, slayer of Narhtan the Crundle Bundle, slayer of Sam Squatch, slayer of Myrma the Defi-Ant, and slayer of Crush the Crusher. This green snot-bucket has more than a little mischievous side. In fact, I would say that he has not a single good bone in his tiny little frame. The deceitful little bugger has no purpose here but to cause mayhem and accrue haters. He weighs in at 10,000 Urists and is looking to trick Hodekin into submission. Will he succeed?

Ladies, gentlemen, and assorted others, that was the final match of our tournament! Mogwai the Devious attempted his tried and true, 'look over there' cheap shot, expecting it to work lowering his guard. Hodekin knows better folks, Varick fell for it. Removing Mogwai's left arm, his blood began draining from the small body, still having fight left in him they continued on parrying one another's attacks. Eventually the blood loss became too great and Mogwai succumbed.

I now give you our very first grand champion!

Is be happy to run the next tournament, if there's enough demand for it to happen more than once a month.

Also, WHOA. Crush saved his points and racked up double, but Mogwai still slew him without breaking a sweat. That seems to point towards some kind of imbalance, in favor of the smaller gladiators.

The only problem I see with running it more often is that people will likely become burnt out quicker, thus it losing popularity and soon dying out. At least that is my understanding of it.

But by all means, I'm really interested in a separate league that has two man teams, if you'd be interested in that, then awesome. Perhaps find a time to run it between my once a month single elimination tourneys. So that they do not overlap.

We shall begin the balancing process after the finals!

I'd be happy to discuss all format and such as well after the finals.

Excellent, I shall post the finals tonight. As for animated anything, that might be a challenge. Considering just how much stronger something becomes when turning undead. I'm sill iffy on firemen, but these are conversations for a different time.

1177
Alright, I'd just like everyone to know that I really don't think it would be viable to run this tournament more often than once a month. Also that it just drains me considering that I have to check back constantly. With that said, I loved doing it and am dedicated to doing more. As for having this on a different topic, I am unsure. On one hand it would keep order, on the other hand, I really like seeing that something I've made has so many pages and views, plus that can make it seem reputable for those looking for a community game. Input?

That reminds me, Unravel, are we allowed to suggest a race to chose and you decide weather it can work and how many points it gets, or is it only the races we're using right now?

Go ahead suggest away, and we'll talk about what's what.

I want to join the next one. How man points do firemen get?

Tough question, and the reason I say so is the fact that creatures like firemen, mudmen etc. are so fragile that a dwarven child will fell them with a single punch, not really gladiator material.

Semi Finals Match II
Mogwai the Devious VS. Crush the Crusher

Back atop the castle, magma fumes pour up from that inferno of a sea. And standing close to one another are yet another pair of the smallest and largest gladiators.

Mogwai the Devious has skill with the blade, that much cannot be denied. However, every last one of this snot ball's matches have been won through honorless tricks and deceit. This little guy is 10,000 Urists big and pure, concentrated evil. Will he trick the big minotaur? Of that I am certain, but will it be enough?

Crush the Crusher is a bovine full of fatherly pride, honestly he is a true hero, an antithesis to Mogwai. He is honorable and fair, and lets be honest, not that bright. I'm rooting for him to bring back the gold for his loving family! This guy is twenty-two times the size of his opponent, it should be child's play for him, right?

This cannot be! The scum, the villain, the sick twisted little green guy did not pull a single trick from his endless bag! No, using his speed and small stature the gremlin was able to topple Crush with a slash to the achilles! And soon after torturing the poor cow he ended it with a knife to the brain. At least the mighty minotaur passed with an even mightier laugh.

Mogwai, if you will upgrade yourself real quick, that'd be great! The finals are coming up and it seems the small have wormed their way to victory. I'll see you all again in Heat Stroke!

Supervene? Something extraneous? What? Souvenir?

The gif was cached in a frozen state on my side btw, it's fixed now.

Don't make fun of my typing skills! Or lack thereof.

Semi Finals Match I
Orthus the Manflayer VS. Hodekin the Legendary Decapitator

Welcome back ladies and gentle, thank you for waiting! Welcome back to the peaceful meadows, where we see a bovine grazing in his natural habitat! This is one of two semi-final matches so pay close attention folks.

Orthus the Manflayer, what can be said, some people might call his need for skinning his opponents alive unsavory. I call it a healthy obsession. This 220,000 Urist beast is looking to make itself a beautiful pair of kobold hide trousers, shall we see if they come to fruition?

This whole David and Goliath trope just keeps popping up in this tourney, here we have an extremely deadly gladiator, one whose seemed to earn a new title, and rightfully so. Please welcome this 20,000 Urist kbold, Hodekin the Legendary Decapitator! This little creature is looking for a new mantle piece, and hes sized up this minotaur just for it.

Amazingly one of our most physically dominant gladiators was unable to do more than bruise this little 'bold with his weighty platinum whip! And while Hodekin was unable to remove the cow's head, at least he'll be able to keep a souvenir, a hand to be exact! Well done to the both of you!

Hodekin, if you will upgrade yourself real quick, that'd be great!

1182
Perfect! I can begin the semi-finals!

1183
Tiring of all the talk of magic Axel wanders off to find the elder man, "Are you in need of aid with that odd device, mister, uh -- what was it?"

1184
I've removed all of the Minotaurs natural skills, and boy are there a ton, do not worry.

Shall I wait for Hodekin to respond or give the most relevant upgrades to him and go on with the semi-finals?

1185
They all think they will win, up until they turn into a fine pink mist. Crush will dunk Mogwai in water and make more critters to smash... just for fun!

Heh, aren't you going to add the explosion of Pliskin's head to your signature?
