Huh, I have no idea how many brats my sisters have spit out now, they're adults doing their own things around the country, I don't really have any reason to bother with shit as annoying as social media just to keep track of whatever they're doing. They're family and all but I don't really care what they're up to anymore, I barely keep in touch with my mom because she's fun to bullshit with now and then. I'm not an uncle because I don't care to be, maybe I'll meet their kids and think they're cool enough little monsters to add them to my family, maybe not.

I don't engage in bookfacery anymore, so why add unnecessary tags to my identity, the missus and I are so much happier without the bullshit of trying to keep track of all these links and engage in interactions with them, and have been consistently so in the two years since we dropped that shit.

You want a happy thought: contrary to what you may hear, you totally do get to choose your family. I have 5 sisters and a mother, some of them claim to have another sister and a father for their own reasons, but I am not family with those two. They have husbands or whatnot that might think I was a brother-in-law or something if asked, but unless I find a reason to add them to my family they're just dudes my sisters are with, the missus has a brother, but he's kind of an ass and his wife is shitty, so they are not ny family, simple as that. They come over sometimes for thanksgiving or whatever, I remember being asked to associate with them and then realizing I didn't enjoy doing so, so I just stopped, much happier.

You can accept definitions given to you by others if you wish, but you'll be happier if you actually examine them critically and choose to adopt them yourself, I owe my mother respect and such for crapping me into life, she'll always be my family, but I have no obligation to link myself to this extended group of strangers and potentially annoying interactions because she defines them as her family, so I don't. Neat!

There's a serious, serious problem with American politics which largely boils down to the fact that people in America can't accept that people who disagree with them politically aren't fundamentally evil, like fucking Sauron. The Left thinks the Right is trying to genocide non-whites and gays, the Right thinks the Left is trying to murder children and supports literal kiddy diddling, and the more the two scream at each other the more right each side becomes because people shy away from the screaming lunatics on the other side, right into the arms of the screaming lunatics on their side.

Most of the time I would have just been engaging in hyperbole to be an ass, but Trump is apparently fine with neonazis, blatantly courts ordinary "we're not willing to throw sig heils, but we don't like brown people" racists, is known for his own creepy actions in the past with teenage girls, though weirdly he was one of the few to not go all in with Moore, and openly admires strongman types around the world.

We've reached the point where the idea of a rubberstamp in office is sufficient for republicans to put up with, well... anything.

It's literally impossible to do anything which could set off a spiral of any sort into a Venus-like state, detonating our entire stockpile of nukes in every fault line at precisely the right spots to cause them to barf molten rock everywhere still wouldn't do it.

Venus didn't start out like Earth and end up in some nonsensical high gain positive feedback loop because of a slight CO2 excess. Burning every single drop of oil, coal, nuking clathrates, melting permafrost, none of that could possibly result in a Venus end state. It barfed itself inside out recently (in geological time) and lacks any weathering or subductive processes to pull shit out of the air.

There's 90 times as much gas piled up on the surface as we have here, there's no way to get around the fact that it's going to be stupidly hot and ridiculously high pressure at the bottom of that much atmosphere, whatever the composition of said atmosphere may be.
