I think multilevel might be my favorite new toy.

It's a pretty minor exploit since you can get the same sort of effect if you wanted by doing d-b-d and mass marking things for dumping, put a garbage dump on a stockpile that accepts everything, then let them haul it and d-b-c unforbid it all.

Doing it with minecarts just lets the dorfs do it automatically without the same micromanagement, while the old bridge/hatch undumps were a more complex method with the same goal.

Considering how nice it is having a more compact layout, more efficient pathing to/from the piles, and the lack of the game tracking the temperature of a billion stockpiled items (as I recall it updates the top item in the pile, the rest just hangs around not eating cpu cycles) is a nice fps boost.

Edit: Heck, I got sick of crap rotting in the depot and figured out a fix, I d-b-d mark everything in the depot for dumping after the merchants leave and activate the dump zone over the food stockpile, unmark the actual building materials in the depot itself as it can confuse dorfs sometimes, and let everyone rush in and haul it all into the foodpile before it rots, then unforbid and they sort the rest of the stuff into the appropriate piles happily.

I had that in a community fort, couple of the military showed up starved/dehydrated to death locked in rooms.

Realied what I had read as "Militia Captain" was actually "Captain of the Guard" and having people locked up/beaten... that's enough of that.

I think that's supposed to be a butchers shop, and the fun of having yak parts come to life and attack you.

You, sir, are a winner. *clap, clap, clap*
Hah, forgot I posted that.

Sadly I recognized it from having done this... once...

...and then again shortly after...

and then again after building cage traps but forgetting to build cages...

and then again in a new fort.

*sigh*

Make sure to remove the supplies and unschedule all training so they don't end up turning into legendary wrestlers if that isn't what you're after, and they'll happily dorf around in their little leathery squad like a bunch of disturbingly hairy S&M fetishists... sorry about that last part.

Not something I want to picture, but what you do in your spare time is no business of mine. I tried that earlier but for some reason bits of armour weren't available when I tried to assign specific ones
See if you can locate them and set up a garbage dump by your armor stockpile, then designate them to be dumped and unforbid them, should show up to be available.

They won't need specific armor as long as you've got 4 leather armor bodies, 4 leggings, and 8 boots.

Replace clothing instead of over clothing works great with the latest versions from what I've found.

Use exact matches as well, so assign a specific helm for each solder at least until they get it right.

:D

It amuses me every time I read it.

Actually that explains why you'd use them for tragedy training.

Doggie McBone Doctor cancels criticism: unsafe terrain.

Least they stayed dead, I'm gonna have to get up a large military and clear the caverns by hand I guess because things won't stop dying in the reanimating portion of the caverns.

Tons of gore everywhere, the mist generator I built when I accidentally reduced the pressure to the first cavern by trying to repeat it in the second cavern, and a bunch of undead crundles, a forgotten beast, and a troll lower left arm with a name (Rimbind!) chillaxing.

Yeah, but is there a way to replace stone with adamantium? I saw someone else do it, and thought it was interesting.
Assuming you mean "adamantine", there is a "changelayer" command which does exactly that.
It is also fun and a great way to break things, but just turning stone into adamantine isn't so bad, be careful doing it with soil layers though, that gets a bit weird.

A more controlled way if you want to dig a fort out of candy is to use reveal and find one of the big round inclusions and do changevein RAW_ADAMANTINE through a few z levels (and remember to move the cursor a bit, I think it does it in 32x32 chunks lined up with the map grid), which should give you a nice big area to hollow out and polish up into a shiny candyland funhouse.

Assign a civilian uniform with a minimum of:
leather armor
leather leggings
leather high boot
leather high boot

Make sure you have enough for your dorfs, set it to replace clothing at least once to make sure they get the boots on right, then you can put it to over clothing and they should wear various other bits of clothing with the armor so they never end up naked.

Make sure to remove the supplies and unschedule all training so they don't end up turning into legendary wrestlers if that isn't what you're after, and they'll happily dorf around in their little leathery squad like a bunch of disturbingly hairy S&M fetishists... sorry about that last part.

I recall the steel crit findings so I just go with that unless I happen to have someone moody and happen to know they love war hammers and happen to have platinum or gold or whatnot so I can forbid everything else.

I wonder if I just trained my recuperating due to almost choking to death when I read the words "I'm still finding Dog Bone Doctor teeth in odd places", come on man!

Now I wonder if there is anywhere which isn't an odd place to find the teeth of Doctor Doggie McHouser, M.D.?

Oh lord, just showed that to the missus, explained that the dogs have the title which means they have the skills, but won't do the jobs because they're pets.

Now I have the image of a dog looking over your shoulder while you set a broken leg.
"You're doing that wrong."
'OK FINE, WHY DON'T YOU DO IT?'
"I'm a dog."
