I've started playing. My first order of business is to build a nice gauntlet in which the dwarves can be killed more easily.
15th Limestone - The initial digging work is finished, and the dwarves are here.
23rd Sandstone - The bastards got a markscat and a few outdoor workers, bu they've stopped there. The soldiers wait for the invading dwarves, while the miners and engineers keep improving the killing zone.
12th Timber - It's as if these idiots are waiting for us to be better prepared. We're currently furnishing the first of two marksdwarf rooms with targets, and furniture is being brought into the new barracks.
10th Moonstone - Well, damn. I left the comuter for a while, went back and the siege was gone. Several horse corpses and horses in traps imply a charge into the traps at the entrance, so I guess they did that and got scared. Also, the traders are here. The cats are so fast, it's beautiful to see them loading up the depot.
16th Granite - Work is nearly done on the Baker's Dozen. In other news, elves have arrived.

You can start whenever you want, just make sure to pick up Ezk1's save. There are about 20 hours left in your turn.

Why did you have to remind me? Now I'm going to have to hook up my old backup drive and get the game just to play Highway Star by Deep Purple.

I first tried playing DROD a few years ago. I got to level 18 or so (on King Dugan's Dungeon) but gave up on it when a bug in the level design forced me to redo the entire level. It's been a while, so I started from scratch, and now I'm at level 15. This is way more fun than I remembered.

Succession means several players play the fortress one after another. Community means people can name dwarves.

This place is a crowded and indefensible mess, and I'm going to do something about that.
There's a nice, wide tunnel ending in a hall that borders the outside world. Is it okay for me to break a wall and turn it into a visitor center for the rape and pillage tourism industry?

Have you had any success with war dogs in the past? Accumulating a breeding stock of two dozen or so should allow you to expend quite a few dogs on every siege and still have the ability to breed more.

Ok heres save for next guy:http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=1597

To do list:
- Handle siege. All bridges are up atm, so you are safe, but you have to find way to handle those ents.(REMEMBER, drop trap dosent work on them!!)
- Find way to get infite water source. (There is lave flowing, but i couldnt rlly get any of my plan work, so its up to you).
-Check how much food we have.
The fortress ought to stay open. Otherwise, the game ends up getting restricted and boring.
When you get the save, Architect, please open up the fortress and try to handle the ents. If it's impossible, we should evaluate the state of our military, artillery and trap systems. If they are in a pretty good state, then it's possible that the treants are just too strong to be met with anything but magma (or RAW-generated thermodynamic anomalies) or defense design skills that are beyond what we can achieve in this fortress.

This one has been biting into my usual DF time for a while. It's a turn based puzzle where you go into a dungeon and kill everything in each room, where everything is a variety of monsters that behave differently and create different challenges. Take a roguelike, replace the random dungeons with well-made puzzles, strip away character equipment, reduce combat to instakill, fill the voids with tactics and you should arrive at something rather close to DROD.

You're booked for Tuesday, and I took Friday.

Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday are still open. Are you a bad enough dude to lead Spakgear for a day?

42
Hehe, "No one even considered making the journey to such a crused death-trap this season."
Well, no migrants coming anytime soon ^^
That's harsh. It's been over a year since the last time enemies broke through the defences and slaughtered the fort's entire useful population.

43
I'm here. DLing the save. Any warnings or recommendations?

Great reporting, and it's good to see the fortress getting up on its feet.
If you need more time, the rules give you three more hours until you turn is at risk. Feel free to take advantage of that if it means you get to finish your turn properly.

Looks like things are getting back under control, that's good. Make sure the military stays large and powerful, crippled warriors don't get replaced if you don't replace them.

Next week's slots are open, Feel free to ask for a day.
